Title: On the Snow Pairing: Sehun/Luhan Word Count: 1756 words Side Pairing(s): - Rating: PG-13 Warning(s): [click to open]ghosts Summary: Luhan has enough money for them to go out for the first time. Author's Note: Merry Christmas to everybody! (Even if this was posted one day late huhu)
"Do you ever feel lonely?"
"Sometimes," is Sehun's reply as he sits on the dining table, pale legs dangling off the edge and swinging. "I can't go anywhere far and people can't see me. It gets a little quiet around here."
Sehun is speaking in a sort of subdued tone, different from his usual lively one. There's something about the tone he's using that makes Luhan want to crawl over and pull him into a hug, even if he finds getting up difficult. Today just seems so dark.
"But I can see you. I've never seen any other ghosts before. Is that supposed to mean something?" Luhan questions from his position on the floor. It's a little punishing on his back, because it makes his back stiff if he lies there for too long, but he guesses nothing can be as bad as what he is feeling right now.
Sehun simply shrugs. "I dunno. Maybe, maybe not. Or maybe because you're the one living in this flat."
Luhan rolls over and flops back onto his mattress, mentally thanking himself for not being able to afford a bed frame; it takes less energy to get to his bed when it is closer to the floor.
"Do you want to celebrate Christmas?" There are a pair of eyes looking at him when Sehun finally looks up from where he was previously staring at the floor tiles-Luhan should really mop the floor some time.
"Can we celebrate Christmas?" He asks right back. Ghosts don't celebrate Christmas. In fact, Sehun has no idea what day it is right now. Luhan took down the only calendar in his house a long time ago and they stopped keeping track of days then. He only knows it’s winter because it has started snowing. Sehun bets that Luhan would know even without a calendar because he's got a job anyway. Payday is more important to him than anyone else.
"We can. I think I have enough money for us to get a meal out there. Alternatively, you can choose what we're going to do to make up for the good food that you're not going to get to eat." There is a playful glint in Luhan's eyes, and Sehun plays along by scowling, pushing himself off the edge of the table to make his way over.
"I want to make a snowman. And snow angels. I want to drink hot chocolate, or even just inhale it. Can we find a playground with swings too?" Propping his head up with a hand, he turns to his side so that he faces Luhan. The moon is up and shining right through the window behind them. It makes Luhan look like he is glowing. Or maybe he is. He definitely is, Sehun thinks when Luhan leans in so close he can almost count the amount of eyelashes Luhan has. Their lips are almost touching when Luhan stops right there, and with a tinge of sadness in his eyes that Sehun can't understand, he replies.
"We can do all of that, maybe even more."
//
As things turn out, Sehun can't go somewhere as far as Gangnam, which is the town, and where most of the people go on a joyous and widely celebrated day like this. It doesn't down their mood too much though, because they have everything they need nearby.
There is the somewhat posh restaurant that Luhan found, making sure his table was a corner one when he booked a place for two--or one?--and a cafe, a somewhat abandoned playground. For Luhan, there is also Sehun, who is right beside him. And for Sehun, having Luhan there is more than enough.
As Luhan hands the menu back to the waiter, Sehun wonders if Luhan had been saving up for this, for them to go out together for once.
Sehun can't go anywhere far because the further he is from where he is tied down to, the weaker he gets. Going to the countryside would probably make him disappear, considering that they live in the middle of Seoul. The places where he can go to are even more limited without Luhan around. For some reason, he's able to travel a further distance when Luhan is there with him. Which is why he barely bothers getting out of the house without Luhan; for making his way down to the grocery store already makes him feel like fainting (as if ghosts could even do that, but well).
Luhan had been so sure of what to order that he hadn't taken much time after he had read the menu at all. Sehun wondered if he stopped by here on the way home all those days before, counting the amount of money he'd have by the time this day rolls around and what he could order with it.
No one talks about how Luhan had so conveniently tried to hold Sehun's hand as they got out of his house as if this was a date, and no one talks about how Luhan's hand went right through Sehun's, grasping at air either. Nothing is going to be able to dampen their mood for today--not even the fact that they had forgotten something as simple as to why they hadn't kissed, hadn't cuddled, hadn't even done something as simple as holding hands.
Grinning, Sehun observed Luhan, who is looking around the restaurant. He bothered to dress up a little for once, probably because this is a special day for the both of them, and nothing is going to be able to tear Sehun's eyes away from how good he looks today.
"You look good." Sehun starts, and Luhan jumps at the sudden voice, offering Sehun a smile.
"Thanks."
Conversation is kept minimal, because no one talks to the air in public, really. Luhan doesn't want attention to be attracted to him or Sehun--even if he looks like nothing to other people--so he tries not to talk, even if he is brimming with happy emotions that are threatening to overflow with whatever they're doing right now, being outside and happy.
They enter a cafe slightly further down the road and Sehun immediately closes his eyes when the smell of hot chocolate and freshly baked bread fill up his nostrils. Luhan isn't particularly hungry, considering that he had already finished a meal earlier, but he still buys some bread and a cup of hot chocolate. Sehun tells him to drink it well in his place. Luhan responds with a smile.
They decide to walk for a bit before they make their way to the playground, where they will probably spend the rest of the night. Luhan was just about to make his way into a clothing store when he felt a tug on his jacket, and turned around to a Sehun who was pouting and pointing in the opposite direction. Are all ghosts this cute?
Making his way into a children's store, he found Sehun purposely keeping himself to the balloons section, looking at every one as if he was choosing one to buy. People walk past, some walk right through him. Luhan can only smile wistfully. These people will never know.
Pushing past some people, Luhan made his way towards Sehun, leaning in close so that he can whisper.
"Is there one that you want?"
"Yeah. This Hello Kitty one." Sehun points at said balloon, and honestly he didn’t have much money left, but he supposes he can make an exception for Sehun. He’ll just have to cut down on his already measly meals for the next few weeks or so until he gets his next pay, at most. Luhan only chuckles before he pays for it, deciding not to say something about Sehun's choice for once. As if he could say anything to defy what Sehun wanted.
Holding the hot chocolate cup while having a balloon tied to his wrist makes going around difficult, Luhan slowly finds out. Not to mention having a bag of bread that hanged off his other arm.
They make it to the playground just fine though, and the two of them sigh the moment they get out of the crowd, mouths immediately opening to make up for the silence that they had to bear with for the past hour or so.
Sighing, Luhan sits himself down on a swing whereas Sehun makes grabby hands at the balloon tied to Luhan's wrist. It miraculously stays tied to Sehun's wrist when they try, and Sehun happily gets up to start making his snowman with a Hello Kitty balloon floating out of nowhere.
When he gets tired of trying to gather snow and roll them together to make a ball, he calls Luhan over so that they can lie in the snow together.
They're a little too far apart from each other, because Sehun has long arms, but the laughs that come from Sehun makes the distance worth it, Luhan thinks as he watches the boy move his arms and legs up and down. He's creating the imprint of an angel because he's the real one, Luhan wants to say. But he knows Sehun would only tease him for being a cheesy old man, while Luhan would once again wonder if ghosts could blush. Or maybe it'd be because of the cold this time?
A few minutes later, Sehun finally tires out with a loud sigh. Luhan had already stopped trying some time ago, his own angel much more shallow and smaller than Sehun's.
When Sehun turns his head to face Luhan, the smile he gives makes Luhan sure that he isn’t lonely anymore.
//
A few days later, Sehun deflates along with the balloon.
New Year's is in two days' time, but Luhan no longer has enough money for them to go out again. He does promise, though, that when he finally saves more up they'll be able to go somewhere else and do more things.
Luhan returns home to a sulking Sehun sitting on his bed beside a flattened balloon that is still tied to his wrist, and he has to physically hold himself back from reaching out to ruffle Sehun's hair. Mostly because he knows it'll just sadden the boy even more, the fact that they can't touch, not exactly.
Sehun doesn't tell Luhan that he had never seen his legs start to disappear like this before. And that he was finally starting to get what people mean by feeling like they are floating. His time here is probably running out.
Title: Voicemail Pairing: Baekhyun/Chanyeol Word Count: 1177 words Side Pairing(s): mentioned!kyungmyeon Rating: PG-13 Warning(s): [click to open]character death Summary: It's 25th of December, Park Chanyeol's favourite day of the year.
Hello, this is Park Chanyeol. I’m afraid I’m unable to pick up your call right now, so please leave a message after the beep. Beep. "Hey, Chanyeol. It's me. Baekhyun. I wonder if you still remember how I sound like," Baekhyun begins, voice soft.
"How are you? It's the 25th of December again, your favourite day of the year. I got you a gift, and I'll give it to you after I'm done with this. I'm not sure if you need it that much though, you probably have everything already.
"Anyway, do you remember the places we used to go to every Christmas? We made it a point never to visit them unless it's this day, but I had to go and check. Your favourite cafe, it has closed down, Chanyeol. The stalls down that road in Myungdong have changed a lot too, but I guess that's expected; roadside stalls aren't really meant to be permanent, right?
"Sometimes I wonder if you still think about me. Do you even remember me at all? I miss you, Chanyeol. I'm sure Nini does too--he's always pawing at the door like he's waiting for someone else to come back when I'm already home. On some days he barks at nothing in the middle of the night and I get scared. But when I get up to find out what's happening, he's sitting by that picture of the three of us we have put up in the living room. Even the dog knows, huh?
"It's getting a lot colder now, and I missed having you as my personal heater." A laugh, even if it makes him want to cry. "Even if I built the blanket fort the way we used to, movie night still feels like it's missing something. Come back soon. I'll stock up on the chocolate ice cream. I promise we'll watch your favourite Star Wars movies even though you've watched them so many times you already have the dialogues memorised?
"I'm sure you know how much I like that series, it's a pretty great sacrifice on my part, I'd say." Another laugh. A few tears fall this time, staining his cold bedspread. "But for you, I wouldn't mind watching it ten times, even if I dislike it more than I probably should.
"If you come back, we can do all the things you like again. We can go cafe hopping and stuff ourselves full with cake, disturb Kyungsoo the way we always do--do you know that he's together with Junmyeon now?--and compose music like before. And... I hate to say this, but your guitar has gotten a little rusty. I tried picking it up a few times, tried to play around with it, but unfortunately I don't seem to have the aptitude for it like you do. I think I'll just stick to the piano." He tries for a chuckle, which comes out sounding more like a whimper.
"I'll clean it up soon, when I finally get a break off work or something. I'll try playing some songs on the piano too, I know you loved listening to me play. Nini always falls asleep whenever I try, but I know you wouldn't, right?
"I found your bucket list while cleaning up the other day. Who would've thought that for someone who has already accomplished so much, Park Chanyeol still has this many things he wants to do? Don't worry though, I have already taken note of the ones that aren't crossed out. I'll get to doing them all one day. In your place."
Baekhyun takes a long pause as he tries to calm himself down, but spectacularly fails. "What must I do for you to come back, Chanyeol? I can't- I can't do this anymore. This feeling, it's eating me up alive. I've been falling back on work because I'm still trying to carry on without you. I might lose my job any time because of my poor performance, and as much as I'd hate to stop, I can't afford to pay for your phone bill anymore.
"Kyungsoo has been trying to tell me it's unhealthy, but I just miss you a lot. It's not unhealthy right, Chanyeol? I just need a sign, to prove all of them wrong, to let everyone else know that even if you're not here with us physically anymore, you're still around somewhere.
"But I'm starting to forget how you sound like already. That deep, rich voice that I loved--and still love--so much. I'm losing hold of everything that you left behind that isn't physical. Some of the polaroids we have taken, even they have faded into nothingness.
"Did you know that polaroids last for about ten years? We've known each other for that long, Chanyeol. And if we have, you should know that I hate it when people leave without a word. First my mother, and as I grew up, a few other friends. Now even you've left. What am I supposed to do without you here?
"That ring you bought that day? I'm wearing it now. It hurts my heart, to think that it's because of this that you have to leave me, but it also comforts me in a way, because it's the last thing you've left me with. Kyungsoo also told me that you had been worrying about the proposal for some time, wondering if I was going to like this or that, or if I'd prefer it to be private or in the middle of the street or something. I hope you knew that I'd like it even if we were on a cliff--in case you forgot that I'm afraid of heights--because it'd be from you.
Press 1 to end the voicemail immediately if you're already done, or you can press 2 to continue for a minute more. Through his panic, Baekhyun presses at the number 2, hand shaking as he brings his phone back to his ear. There is a pause as he tries to formulate the things he wants to say, the more important ones, for this last time.
"Do you still remember that guy who so heartlessly drove off after knocking you down? He got caught some time ago. Had to serve a few years in jail or something. Justice really prevails, but even that isn't able to make up for the pain of losing you.
"I'm running out of time, Chanyeol. This is the last time I'm going to be hearing your voice anymore. I'm going to hang up, even though you've already done that on me first. I hope you know that I love you, and that I always will. Merry Christmas, my lovely Chanyeol. I'll still visit you whenever I can, and I'll do all those things on your bucket list for you, alright? Remember this, Chanyeol. I love--" Due to a lack of payment, the line has been cut and the service is now terminated. Thank you for using our services and we hope to be able to provide for you again. Goodbye.
Title: Bump It Pairing: Sehun/Kai Word Count: 1958 words Side Pairing(s): - Rating: NC-17 Warning(s): - Summary: Sehun falls sick during the Christmas period and Jongin is a genius.
"We need to go Christmas shopping soon." Sehun says, right after what seemed like the ten thousandth sneeze.
"Yeah, we should. And get actual gifts this time." Jongin snickers are he recounts the memory of them giving Chanyeol Rilakkuma condoms just for jokes. Look, it's even honey flavoured, Sehun added after Chanyeol couldn't stop looking between them and the gift. Whether it was in disbelief or amazement, Jongin couldnt tell. "Also what's with you and your sneezing? Are you falling sick?"
Slumping, Sehun decides that it'd be better if he uses Jongin's thigh as his pillow, so he does just that, lifting Jongin's shirt up a little just so that he can press a kiss into the soft skin of his boyfriend's belly. He sniffs and curls up onto his side, trying to get comfortable as Jongin continues killing zombies on the screen.
"Yes!" He hears Jongin mumble under his breath, and is unable to stop the chuckles that leave him at how silly his boyfriend is.
"No, I don't think so. I probably just need more sleep. Work has been continuously piling up lately." Sehun says into Jongin's thigh, hand clutching at the hem of his shirt.
Pausing his game, Jongin looks down at a sleepy Sehun and puts his controller down in favour of carding his fingers through Sehun's hair. "You promised me not to tire yourself out, babe. We should go to sleep now, since you're tired and it's kind of late."
"It's... 10 p.m. now? Jongin, we never sleep before 12 a.m. There's no way this is late."
"Well you need sleep and seem to be falling sick, no time would be too early for sleep." Jongin picks up his controller again, only that this time, it's to quit the game. Jongin gestures for Sehun to get up so that he can pack everything up while Sehun goes to rest first in their bedroom, feet lazily shuffling as he walks there.
Sehun ends up dragging their dustbin to leave it next to their bed so that he doesn't have to pick up the remnants of his poorly aimed shots the next morning. He also almost kicks Jongin right where it matters when one of his legs jerks as a result of his sneezing. In an effort to make up for it, he pats at Jongin's crotch with a poorly concealed suggestive smile, and Jongin takes revenge by wrapping his arms and legs around Sehun and squeezing tightly, making him the physical embodiment of a bolster.
//
With the quickly approaching day, friends are supposed to come over for a Christmas party, but instead of cooking or ordering food for it, Jongin is cooking Sehun chicken soup.
It's canned chicken soup, because Jongin can't actually cook for nuts. (He's also sure Sehun would rather drink canned chicken soup than have Jongin try to come up with a homemade one and risk losing his life for when Jongin burns down the place.)
Pulling the blanket closer to his body, Sehun huddles further into it as if he is trying to become one with it. He feels horrible and kind of warm under the blanket, but if he removes it he'll feel cold again. It doesn't help that the temperature outside is probably below zero degrees as well. It sucks to be him.
"Here you go, big baby." Jongin sets the bowl of soup and a spoon on the table and takes a seat opposite Sehun, facing him and staring at him while he eats.
"Told you you should have been getting more rest," says his boyfriend while looking fondly at him. Sehun is sure the flush creeping up his cheeks is due to the heat of the soup, not the stare. Sehun almost chokes on his soup when he feels a pair of feet slowly nudge up his calves, and looks up to find Jongin still looking at him with his chin propped up by his elbows.
"Yeah, yeah. I know you care, but I can't turn back time now, can I? Have you told the others that the Christmas party is postponed?"
"I have. They all agreed. We should probably decorate the Christmas tree after you're done eating. Do you still feel cold?" Sehun has no idea how Jongin is still able to keep his face straight when he has his feet this close to Sehun's dick, after they have somehow wiggled their way through the thick blanket that's still around Sehun. There are bare, warm toes caressing at Sehun's inner thighs, and Sehun mentally groans because he had chosen to wear boxers inside of pants even if he was freezing.
The soup is warming him up just fine, and Jongin's feet are doing an even better job at it. "No, I'm not that cold already. And I want to put the star up this year."
"But I want to do it too-"
"You did it last year. Please, Jongin? Let me put the star up on the Christmas tree?" Putting his spoon down, Sehun tries to pout in his sick and gross state in order to win Jongin over. He sees it work when Jongin's resolve quite literally crumbles outwardly.
"...Damn it. Fine. You'll do it then. But I'm doing it next year!"
"We'll see."
Decorating the Christmas tree is a fairly simple affair, because they don't have much decorations at all, really. Jongin does horrible things like pull Sehun in by the neck to kiss under their mistletoe, which makes him splutter and flush. Sehun says that he doesn't want Jongin to get sick too and that he should stop, but in all honesty he wouldn't mind if Jongin did it again and again and again.
They collapse into bed after putting everything up, and Jongin's head immediately snaps to look at him when Sehun sneezes yet again.
Putting the backs of his hands against his and Sehun's forehead, Jongin feels for Sehun's temperature, but finds out that he's still a little too warm. He should really wear more clothes next time.
Just then, Jongin sits up and throws a leg over Sehun's hip, moving to straddle him before leaning down so that his forehead is almost touching Sehun's, eyes staring intently into the other's for a few moments.
Sehun frowns, obviously confused at his boyfriend's sudden actions and probably a little annoyed because he wants to sleep, but Jongin answers any questions he has in mind before he can even ask them.
"So, I've heard that sex can cure fevers." Jongin's hands run down Sehun's sides shamelessly as he speaks, fingers leaving goosebumps in its wake as he strokes up and down there. There's this smirk on his face, and Sehun should really have seen this coming the moment Jongin leaned in. "Why don't we find out if it's true?"
He chuckles, and Jongin looks almost relieved that Sehun isn't going to kick him off the bed for stopping him from sleeping. Lifting his hands to place them on Jongin's hips, Sehun enuciates his agreement with a roll of his hips upwards.
"Just do it already."
It doesn't take Jongin too long to rid Sehun of his clothes and boxers after that, though he does pull the blanket over them a little just in case Sehun starts to feel cold again. Feeling around the bed for their hidden bottle of lube, Jongin gasps as he feels Sehun bite down on the skin right beside a nipple. He takes a few moments to recover and straddle Sehun's hips again, but when he finally does he's met with the view of his beautiful boyfriend looking positively well-fucked--even if they haven't actually fucked yet. His hair is mussed up and his lips are swollen from all the kissing, but Jongin is unable to resist leaning in to claim those plump lips again, teeth tugging lightly at the bottom one. He moans right against Sehun's lips as he pushes a finger into himself, and Sehun throws the covers off because how can he not watch when Jongin is fingering himself for him?
Pressing the pads of his fingers down against firm butt cheeks and pulling them apart slightly, Sehun watches intently and kisses Jongin from time to time to swallow his moans, concerns about not wanting to get Jongin sick as well thrown out of the window. It is tempting to push Jongin's hand away and push his own fingers in, but he decides against it in favour of letting Jongin do what he has in mind, occasionally rocking his hips back to meet Jongin's thrusts from where he is conveniently rutting against Sehun's thigh while pushing back against his own fingers at the same time.
Even after stretching himself with three fingers, Jongin is still tight and Sehun almost comes right then after Jongin has fully sunk down, taking in all of his cock at one go. Jongin keeps shifting around as he adjusts, and Sehun has to grab onto his his in an effort to physically stop him from doing so, partly also to stop himself from thrusting back up.
He lets Jongin do it on his own pace, their groans resonating off the walls at the same time after the first rock of his hips down. Sehun has been too busy recently for nothing more than mutual handjobs, and even then, it definitely isn't every day that he gets Jongin riding him, much less fingering himself before riding him.
It doesn't take long for them to find a steady rhythm after that, with Jongin's hands braced against his chest as he starts to fuck himself back onto Sehun's cock earnestly. Planting his feet onto the bedsheets, Sehun props his legs up just enough to allow him to meet Jongin's thrusts, the small sounds he makes an encouragement to keep him going. Jongin leans in to bury his face into the crook of Sehun's neck and he starts to slow down, letting Sehun take over.
It doesn't take long for either of them to near the edge, seeing as how it has been long since they have done this, and after a particular shift the head of Sehun's cock has been nudging so insistently against Jongin's prostate he can't find it in himself to care about the volume of his moans anymore.
A few more slams of his hips down has Jongin's back arching as he spurted ropes of come, most of it landing on Sehun's chest. It took a few more hurried thrusts, along with how Jongin clenched around him and that lewd moan of his name Jongin gave when he came to make Sehun come, driving his hips up one last time as he came deep in Jongin.
Lifting his hips effectively helped Sehun to pull out, and Sehun immediately wished he hadn't, because he enjoyed having Jongin that close to him.
More than that, he immediately wishes Jongin hadn't got off him because the first thing he did after was to bend down and start licking his own come off Sehun's chest. The sight is enough to make Sehun's cock twitch, never mind the fact that Jongin just had to be purposely dirty about it, dragging his tongue across areas that had already been cleaned before just for the sake of seeing Sehun squirm.
Groaning, Sehun pushes Jongin away to stop him from continuing, because as much he loves Jongin and loves touching Jongin, he's a little too tired now, even though Jongin had pretty much done all the work himself.
He pulls Jongin in by slinging an arm across his shoulders and dragging him down so that they can cuddle and fall asleep like that, even if they feel gross and the blanket probably has to be washed again.
Title: Sign Pairing: Chanyeol/Kai Word Count: 1324 words Side Pairing(s): - Rating: PG-13 Warning(s): - Summary: Jongin bumps into his ex on Christmas day.
"Jongin? Is that you? Kim Jongin?"
Putting down the book he was perusing through, Jongin turned around at the sound of a familiar voice. He was greeted by the sight of a tall man wearing a turtleneck that seemed to swallow even someone with shoulders as broad as his. Jongin used to love resting his head on those shoulders, especially when he sat in said man's lap.
Blinking, Jongin nodded meekly, adjusting the spectacles he was wearing. In front of a man who still looked so good even though Jongin hadn't seen him in ages, he suddenly feels self-conscious about his choice of clothing for that day.
"Chanyeol hyung? What are you doing here?"
"What, I can't visit a bookstore?" Chanyeol laughs, and even his laugh is still the same. Jongin briefly wonders if his feelings have changed.
Flustered because he realized that he sounded like he was implying that, Jongin quickly waves his hands around, as if trying to say no. "I mean that you didn't really like books, and you used to say they made you fall asleep."
"It's a little different now. I've started to read some literature just to pass time. I'm really picky with my books though."
And just like that, they fall back into a comfortable conversation about books-Chanyeol ends up with more than a few new books in his to-read list, and Jongin is updated about what Chanyeol has been doing.
It hasn't been long since they broke up, or at least to Jongin--a year isn't long compared to the four years they were together for, right? Chanyeol is very much still the same and Jongin would be lying if he said he didn't miss him.
They had parted on comfortable terms, promising to keep in contact with each other but of course never contacting in the end, more so because their lives didn't allow them to.
It's never too late to start though, Jongin thinks, as he looks at Chanyeol. He's currently sitting opposite him, and they're enjoying a warm cup of coffee in a small cafe they found, because Chanyeol has nothing else to do for the rest of the day and he wants to catch up with Jongin more.
He has no idea how to describe this feeling, this bubbling thing going on inside him as his eyes drift from the way Chanyeol's plush bottom lip seems to jut out when he talks, from the way his eyes seem to shine when he's talking about something he's really passionate about, which gets him all excited and cute.
There wasn't an exact reason for their break up, more like they just lost the spark they had and figured it would be better to break it off, and as much as Jongin doesn't want to catch feelings for Chanyeol, it seems like it is happening again.
Meeting him like this, with a clearer mind now that he has gotten over the part where he blames the other for all the tough times they had to go through, he now sees why he fell for Chanyeol in the first place.
Smiling and nodding as Chanyeol went on talking, Jongin wraps his fingers around the cup, bringing it up to his lips for a sip. It was as if coffee gave him liquid courage--Jongin stuck a leg out to stick it between Chanyeol's crossed ankles, never letting it travel more than a few inches up, mostly just to test his reaction.
Surprised, Chanyeol actually stops talking for a few moments, eyes rounded as he looks at Jongin, before it softens and he tilts his head. Jongin doesn't answer the obvious question he has, evident in the way he's still looking at Jongin with his tilted head, but neither does Chanyeol actually ask it.
Chanyeol's expression eventually shifts into one of amusement, what with the raised eyebrows and he starts to ask after Jongin, leaving him with no time to think about what the tightening of ankles around his leg might mean.
It's good that they chose to seat in a corner, because Jongin is pretty sure that no one would want to get an eyeful of footsie no matter the day. It doesn't go past subtle hints of something more, Jongin let his ankles link and lock Chanyeol's leg in place after Chanyeol doesn't show any signs of objection, and Chanyeol never does anything more than nudge his foot against Jongin's calf.
Jongin's just about to finish his coffee when Chanyeol suddenly says, "I lied."
"What did you lie about?" It is now Jongin's turn to look confused. They had talked about so many things in the past few hours, Jongin is almost sure it made up for the past one year in which they never kept in touch, maybe even including the past years where they were together but never made proper communication. Chanyeol usually talked enough for two people, but Jongin had his fair share of sharing stories too; of himself and of their friends'.
"About me visiting the bookstore because I wanted to read some books," Chanyeol's tongue sticks out to wet his lips, more of an unconscious habit than anythig else, but Jongin finds his eyes following that action anyway. "Well, I did want to try to pick up reading, but I was in that store because I got dumped by my date. Of sorts."
Oh. A date. Jongin almost forgot. Chanyeol is quite the catch; he's successful in his career, which makes him sort of well-off, and he's good looking. Most importantly, he's a really nice person. Why wouldn't anyone want Chanyeol, when he's this good?
Making a move to pull his legs away, now that he knows his friend is possibly attached, Jongin is surprised when he's met with resistance. He tugs more insistently, but Chanyeol's ankles are now digging into his calves as his legs wrap around Jongin's own.
"Let me go, you have a partner-“
"Listen. She's just a date of sorts, not a proper one," but before Jongin could feel offended for the person Chanyeol so easily dismissed, Chanyeol continues. "Remember Jongdae? That best friend of mine? She was about to go out with me just to spite her boyfriend, who made her mad for god knows what reason. We were about to go out, but she suddenly gave me a call to tell me that she's already made up with him, and I was already on the way to meet her.
"I was just outside the bookstore then, and I figured that since I didn't have anything else to do, I should go in and try to find some books I could read. Then I saw you."
So his date is actually really his best friend. Jongin suddenly feels stupid.
"What's the point of telling me all this- I wouldn't know if you have any other partners after all."
"If you don't know, I'm still single, and very much available." Chanyeol sighs, finally loosening his hold around Jongin's leg.
Jongin tries to ignore Chanyeol's look when he actually lets his leg stay there, instead of pulling it away like what he was trying to do just minutes ago.
They finish their coffee and head out after, stopping outside the door of the cafe.
"So, see you soon?" Pulling up the scarf that was wind around his neck so that it covers his mouth and part of his nose, Chanyeol stuffs his hands into the pocket of his winter jacket.
"See you soon." Jongin echoes, and he feels Chanyeol's smile warm him even if it is hidden behind the scarf. They had exchanged numbers--apparently Chanyeol had changed his quite a few times already--and if Jongin didn't read the atmosphere wrongly, there was definitely a chance of something beginning again.
Humming along to the Christmas songs that was played along the streets, Jongin walked home with an extra skip to his steps that day.
