Well Isn't that Strange?

So I was doing some research online for why the frog species Xenopus laevis was a model organism and I found this little gem:

"Xenopus laevis was to be the saviour of the egg-starved scientists, but it rose to prominence for another reason altogether. In the 1930s, it was discovered that a female Xenopus would ovulate if injected with the urine from a pregnant woman - the hormone chorionic gonadotropin being the active ingredient. For a while in the 1940s and 50s, this was the only available pregnancy test, and many hospitals kept Xenopus"

Amazing...

On to other news, I have been eyeing this gelaskins laptop with a Camilla d'Errico painting on it for awhile but I can't decide if I want this one or the Audrey Kawasaki one. Ahhh decisions! Either way, both choices would look better than the peeling plastic cover I still have on my laptop that has been there since they day I bought it.

I've also gotten into collecting prints of my favorite artists. I just wish Brian M. Viveros would make this picture available for print:

Of course his prints use to be cheaper but now are way out of my budget :(. I seriously envy people like Long Gone John who has walls and walls of art and can afford original Mark Ryden paintings. I think he lives in Olympia now. It makes me wish I could drive up there, break in and just ogle at his collection >.>
I'm slacking a lot in SL. My skybox is littered with unfishined projects and I still have to do that ocelot head and wolf doll commisions. I guess I just haven't been feeling the creative urge lately. Hopefully I will next week once I get over my EvoDevo midterm and have time to think. I really want to learn Maya though. This is where I wish the UW offered 3d graphic modeling classes as an elective, I would take it in a heartbeat.
