This is the art masterpost for the story This Time We'll Get It Right for the spn_j2_bigbang!

Extremely graphics heavy, so click with caution!

Title. This Time We'll Get It Right
Author. silveritas
Summary. It's not easy raising a kid all alone, and making a name for himself in the courts of Dallas County is tough. But finding himself in love with his best friend? Easiest thing he's ever done. With some help and nudging in the right direction from his match-making ex-wife, Jared discovers that what he's been looking for was right there all along.
Artist Note. Thank you to the author for being such a doll to work with and to my jujuberry136 for initially betaing above and beyond the call of duty. Also, thanks to my brother for telling me it didn't look hideous when I asked.

Cover.

The settings of this story seemed like another character to me while doing my initial reading. Jared's loft, Jensen's house, the Dallas Arboretum, the State Fair, White Rock Park, Whataburger, and more were so central to the love story that I really felt the most essential thing for a reader to see in the art was the city and state that are shown so much love in the text. Here in the cover you can see the Texas state flag, an arbor at the Dallas arboretum, the Dallas skyline, and the state. For each of the headers, I decided to provide some basic information to explain each scene I picked.

Headers.

The first part takes place predominantly in Jared's world: during his workday and at home. I thought the Dallas skyline at sunset was an appropriate visual for these settings.

When the Dallas Arboretum was mentioned, I knew exactly what I wanted to use in this header. This beautiful view of daffodils and other blooms was taken at the arboretum (although not by me).

While first searching for Dallas imagery, the State Fair was the predominant subject. The Texas Star is the backdrop of almost every photo taken at the fair (of which there are tons). I particularly liked this one because you can catch a glimpse of the Dallas skyline in the background. I would love to go to the Texas State Fair after looking at all the amazing pictures on Flickr.

During this part, the boys go on a date to the Capital Grill, but I didn't find the pictures of that very scintillating, so this represents the iconic Lone Star that Texas is so known for.

It is mentioned at some point that Jensen lives in Lakewood, which is where the gang spends the majority of this part. I loved this red, white, and blue spire that reads Lakewood, which is located in the neighborhood.

This entire part of the story takes place in Jared's open layout loft, which I imagined as having a view of the city, thus the second skyline. Plus, I thought this was a gorgeous image.

Jensen returns to Texas in Part 7 and is met at the airport by the troops. I thought this was a particularly poignant scene and this was a perfect image to match it.

I'm not sure why, but this is the perfect image of domesticity to me. I didn't want something with any obvious signs of femininity and I figure this is the type of place Jared and Jensen hang out in the evenings now that their children are grown.

(I apologize in advance if anything looks hinky in the epub, it's my first time doing one. As for the HTML, I could only check it in Firefox and Safari, which looked fine, but if there are issues in any other browser, PLEASE let me know. And make sure to leave a comment for silveritas if you do take one of these to read!)
