Burning alive inside of the crucible...
Just finished up final mixdown/master of a track I've been fucking with for the last 2 days. It's working title is "Calcination" and it's somewhat of an industrial piece, probably a throw back to older NIN with a bit of an Aphex Twin and Coil influence as well.
It's a frustrated track for me. The title is a reference to alchemy, Calcination is the alchemical phase in which the base metal is heated in a crucible until all impurities are burnt away.
Years spent working towards self-betterment/self-mastery often result in temporary blackslides into feelings of despair, angsty social withdrawal and acute anxiety/depression, and I worked to transmute these feelings into music... You can literally hear Tibetan monks clashing with the chthonic/Lovecraftian chants.
The beats were programmed using various chopped/spliced loops/chthonic chants and one shots in Acid Pro, the guitars and keyboards are performed and recorded by me.
