Keep on Driving

Megan and I were up til 6:00 am talking about random things. I was up for 23 hours yesterday, and I think I could have stayed up longer. I only got 4 hours of sleep, but I feel fine and I have a lot of homework to do.

Anyway, last night was a blast. Worked until 1:00 - yay! Got out early! Called Megan (and woke her up) to see if she and Leah were free to go to Bob Chinn's Crabhouse, which we've been talking about for a while. Megan was, but Leah wasn't, so Megan picked me up and we went.

*happy groan* I'm so glad that resaurant isn't any closer, or else I'd be fatter and poorer. The garlic rolls were magnificent, the soup was good, the crabcake nuggets were all right, and the garlic rolls were magnificent. Oh, did I say that already? ;-)

We came over to my house and we watched SNL Remembers Chris Farley, which always makes me laugh and feel sad. You are greatly missed, Chris.

Leah picked us up and we headed to Banzai, a Japanese steakhouse. Leah's parents treated the three of us - so fantastic! Neither Megan nor I had ever been to one, and it was awesome. They start the fire right in front of you, at the table, and cook your food right there. Our cook guy had something shiny under his nose - we feared it was snot. But, nevertheless, the food was good. Leah's mom even got me to try sushi and some other raw fish thingy. I didn't much like it, but at least I tried it.

We played a little trick on Leah's parents by moving their car before we left. Hehe. We hung out at Borders til they closed, then went on a drive. It was so great. We were listening-to-Norah-Jones-while-driving-in-the-dark-through-Wisconsin, and it was incredibly relaxing. We got a little lost, and it was really dark up there, but we found our way back. I was really bummed when we got to the Lake Villa Library and that car dealership was sooo bright. It ruined the special spirit. But it was cool. I love to drive like that, too. It's a temporary escape, a release, and it was nice to do that with my two closest friends. I did a lot of random thinking while watching the pretty moon follow us, and it felt like we were, as Leah's mom had called us, Thelma and Louise and Louise. Haven't seen the movie so I don't know who's who, but it did feel like, hey, we could go anywhere right now. Anywhere we want. It was very empowering.

There's always a reason to come back, though.

We came back to my house to watch SNL Remembers Phil Hartman. Leah left, but Megan was too tired to drive home so we stayed up all night and talked.

All in all, a very rewarding day yesterday. And today, well, it will be rewarding once I stop procrastinating and get some homework done.

Ah crap. Laundry! Gotta go.
