I was already up and not-at-all tired last night/early this morning when I happened to see a LARGE (And I mean large - scarily large) brown spider speedily zip from my bedroom door under my bed. Stifling a shriek like the little girl that I so desperately am, I leaped up and lunged into my chair.
I sat with my eyes glued to the openings around my bed (my suitcases are under there!) and, after about forty minutes of nothing, I happened to look over on the other side of me and saw the goddamn spider lounging in a pile of my belts by my closet.
I quick turned around (still on the chair) to grab a shoe and by the time I turn around he's darting towards my suitcases again. Under my bed.
I waited and waited but he didn't come out (that I saw), and I was too chickenshit to try to shake things up to get him to come out (what with it being 3AM and my inevitable screams). So I decided, since I certainly couldn't sleep in the bed, to just stay awake a few more hours. I'd done it before (not for a spider though).
I filled my travel mug with coffee at 5:00 AM to go to the tube, but the milk was bad. Walked around, got a Starbucks, and came to work early (fortuitously, actually, since Tara was testing a potential new hire at 8:30AM and got here at 8). My refill of coffee ALSO had expired milk - it actually lumped together when I dumped it in the sink and looked horrifyingly like cat barf.
Somehow, with minimum caffeine, I'm still awake.
I can feel my eyes go in and out of focus, though, and my attention drift and balance shift, not unlike being drunk (though fewer giggles). I can see why driving this way would be as bad as DUI.
When I get home, I'm going to have to be brave and stalk out this spider from its possible lair under my bed (and I just cleaned the room this weekend!). And I think the only way I'll be able to do it is because I'll be dead tired.
I'm so tired already and it's only 2:12PM. Damn. zzzzzz
