I'm alive. ALIIIIIIIIIVE!

Yes. I am alive. I am around. I am homeless. And I am tired.

Work has been sooooo busy since I got back. I've looked at one flat, and it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I have another flat viewing tonight, and, if this one's not the one, another one or two or three the rest of the week.

I've forgotten that tomorrow's Halloween so many times. Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus are all decked out in Christmas spirit (and have been for a while). The air is chilly and crisp, which means that out of the 3 "seasons" I've lived in London, we're finally having the first that conforms to standard weather patterns.

The clocks went back an hour for us on Sunday, so it's getting darker earlier, which always bums me out (at first, then it's CHRISTMAS!).

Since I'm flat-less, most of my stuff is stashed around work and I'm staying with my co-worker Shanaz, who is such a sweetheart. Her family is so sweet, too. Her mom gets up early to make me breakfast - despite the fact that Shanaz and I have told her she doesn't have to. Shanaz and I have been working late, from 30 mins to over an hour, all last week and yesterday (meh for unpaid overtime.) and when we come home her mom has dinner ready (or a non-spicy substitute for me). Moms, eh? It just makes me miss mine even more.

On Saturday, I went to Bluewater Shopping Centre (aka MALL!) with Shanaz and her boyfriend Karim. They're such a cute couple. I'd only just met Karim last Weds when the three of us went out for a steak dinner. He's energetic and silly, and the three of us had fun. We saw Ratatouille on Saturday as well; it was all right.

I cannot wait to find a flat (well, flat-share, as I can't afford a flat on my own). I'm having fun at Shanaz's, but I feel like I'm putting them out. I'm trying to find a flat as soon as possible, but it isn't easy to fit in the flat-searching when I'm so busy at work (and after work). And now with the darkness coming earlier, I feel so tired by the time I leave. So it'll just be one more weight off my shoulders when I can check that task off my imaginary list.

Tomorrow we're having a Halloween lunch at work. I think this means take away sandwiches and candy and pumpkin-covered plates and napkins. It'll be nice, but we've all been so flat-out for about a month now that I doubt we'll have the time available to break for lunch.

Speaking of, my lunch is almost over. I hope all of you are well. I plan on catching up with LJ eventually (also emails, phone calls, my precious American TV), as soon as I move and get all settled. In the meantime, for those of you concerned with my whereabouts (i.e. Leah), I am alive and well. And busy.

friends, flat, work
