I haven't been writing much lately, whether it's in here, in my handwritten journal, or any of the tens of stories I should be writing. I don't know. I don't understand my writing apathy sometimes. I could say it's a result of trying to "live in the moment" but that'd be a blatant lie. It's apathy, laziness, lack of creativity and lack of drive, all rolled into one.
Jamie is here in London, visiting Megan and me from good ol' Chicago. She got in on Saturday, and after we accidentally went to the wrong terminal, and after Megan was "helped" by a tube ticketman, we found each other and had a pleasant weekend. Lots of eating out and sightseeing and such. We might even stay at a hotel for a night, and I can take a day off of work. Yays all around! Last night we saw "Atonement," for which I had low expectations. It was quite good, though terribly depressing and not a good movie to see right before you go home and go to bed.
Yesterday at a shop in Covent Garden, I splurged and bought a cheerful yellow bag with a little cartoon on it. It's a david & goliath thing, and it's almost too hipster for me, but it was so adorable. It's a smiling piece of yellow legal paper and two frowning white regular-sized pieces of paper, and it says "I'm legal! Yippee! Yah!" Very cute, and a big, soft, blob of a bag which will come in handy.
Also yesterday, Jamie and I were almost taken down by a suicide jumper at The Gap. The half-dressed mannequin, fed up with the static lifestyle of its being, took an unprovoked dive off the table, collapsing with two dislocated arms at our feet. It was really bizarre, because the guy who was nearest it didn't seem to touch it, and we weren't close enough to do it. Later, at H&M, as the three of us approached the stairs, a shirt randomly fell, again unprovoked, from a nearby table. The Ghost of Fashions Past, perhaps?
The office is rather quiet today. People are sick and/or just broke up with boyfriends. Puts a damper on the day, but what can you do? At least I saw some sunshine earlier.
