So.  Life is peachy. I now know what to expect on the exams in all my classes... I had my first Econ201 exam last week and got an 86% on it...this is very exciting, taking into consideration what my first grade was the last time I took Econ201.  So I'll allow myself to be optimistic about that particular class...

Week before last, I had my 1st appointment with my new endocrinologist... As it turns out, I have another appointment for about 2 weeks from now with a dietician to help me get started on a new treatment, which will be an injection in addition to the insulin I already take with everything I eat.  It's called "Symlin," which is actually the hormone amylin that is produced by the pancreas, and I guess since my pancreas is a little fucked up, it doesn't produce enough amylin either... Basically, it's supposed to make me need less insulin by enhancing the absorptive ability of insulin, and by slowing down the movement of food through the digestive system so that I won't want to eat as much, meaning, since I won't be using as much insulin since I won't be eating as much, just maybe I'll lose weight.  Which is the primary reason I was wanting to try it in the first place!  I don't care that I'll have to take more shots...I just want it to be worth it.  Hopefully this will be something to turn things around for me.   My A1C was at 7%, which is pretty good, but there's a lot of room for improvement in all other areas...

After last week's visit, I also learned that I should never let my mother accompany me into such places, because she has this annoying little habit of talking.  While I was answering some of the doctor's basic questions about my medical history, my mom felt it necessary to mention that I was anorexic about 8 YEARS AGO, that I had a "rash" over a month ago from an unexplained allergic reaction, that I was allergic to cow's milk for the 1st couple years of my life...and she felt it necessary to ask if it wasn't a bad thing that I re-use my syringes or give my injections through my clothes (both of which things the doc said were "perfectly fine").  But overall, the visit was a success.

Random thought: when I was on my trip over Labor Day weekend, on the plane from Louisville to Minneapolis, I was on the same plane as my elementary school I-Leap teacher, Mrs. Napier. Todd is probably the only one who remebers her/knows who she is, but I thought that was a rare coincidence.

I have a whim to go study for anatomy... Guess I'll take advantage of it while it lasts.
