So, the day is finally winding down and I can actually start thinking about going to bed... I spent about an hour at the immediate care center at Brooks tonight after I got home from work because my skin decided to break out in monstrous hives about 2 hours before I was supposed to be off. It really started yesterday around 2am or so, while I was at Bryon's but it was subtle enough for me not to think anything of it, but later on, I was itching all over and covered with blotches...I still didn't think anything of it, just thought it was something that would go away after I took a shower & went to bed. When I woke up today, I felt normal enough, but later in the evening it started up again, a lot worse than before... I started thinking that maybe it was the new detergent that my mom bought since I'd washed my apron the day before, but I've never had any kind of allergic reaction to anything like that before...or hardly anything at all, for that matter. And I know it was nothing at Bryon's (unless I'm suddenly allergic to dogs, but that wouldn't be such a bad thing) since it only got worse after I left...and the detergent seems to be the only logical explanation anyway.
So, when I was treated at the immed. care center place, the doctor said that there was no way of knowing exactly what was causing it, just that I was definitely allergic to something, and it could be anything... So, they gave me a few pills & a prescription and sent me on my way.
I felt kind of stupid for going in there for something as minor as that, but there was no way I could've stood it for the rest of the night & then all day tomorrow at work. I probably would've ended up scraping all my flesh off with a cheese grater.
While a nurse was putting my info into the computer and got to the part about my "known" allergies, I told her the medications I'm allergic to, but then my mom pipes up, "She's also allergic to dust mites." Dead silence until I said, "Umm...I think everyone is." The nurse was amused. Seriously...dust mites? I'm sure they're bad for everyone. Not just me.
While I'm not itching, I think I'll go take a shower & call it a night.
