Being nothing more than an obligation...
...really, really sucks.
But does one just enjoy the effects of being an obligation, or does knowing one is an obligation negate those effects? And how much does the annoyance to the obliged matter?
Why does the obliged feel obligated in the first place? If the motivation isn't purely good then can the reaction be purely selfish? :]
