faintly glimmering smorgasboard of whatever and ever

today in film history we discussed quenten turantino's cult classic "pulp fiction" from last thursday's lab. the discussion went fairly well, or as well as could be expected (nobody's really awake in that class most days) until somebody pulled out the ignorant christian card. this girl, more or less, asked what was the point in watching a secular film if it doesn't have redeeming moral christian values. she prefaced this by saying she didn't see the film (our prof. gave the option of the sound of music) and didn't know anything about the film. another girl, inspired by the show of ignorance, said that just because a film was aesthetically appealing didn't redeem the content. to me, it's irritating that somebody can be so close minded that they automatically write off something that could broaden horizons. just because it's not blatantly christian doesn't mean it can't be art, have meaning, worth, whatever.

what bothers me is that grove city is as close minded as ou was open, to its fault.
