one of the things i should not be doing right now: spamming my flist.

Poll jag är trött på att få höra/att jag slösar med min tid

if i manage to get the scanner hooked up this weekend, there will prolly be some bad fanart coming your way. for now, a fandom meme. i don't know why i do these, since there are only 3.5 fandom people on my flist, but what can you do.

Describe to me the concept for an epic multi-chapter fanfic, and I'll write a scene from it.

fic, poll, meme

The scanner is not hooked up? (eee, fanart!)

A blurb:
King Odin has taken to oppressing the peasants frivolously, for reasons unknown. His trusted advisor, Duke Loki, who normally takes on the frivolous harassment of the innocent and hapless on King Odin's behalf (it's all about the PR, see), has mysteriously vanished, and it is up to brave Prince Thor and the Black Knight Sir Yamino (and his little dog Fenrir) to find out what has happened! What is Lord Heimdallr plotting with the strange foreign royals Freyr and Freya? Do they even have anything to do with this? And what exactly are the three witches cooking in their pot? Which mysterious mystery will the fiesty peasant girl Mayura lark off after, and is there any way to stop her? Dun dun dun, and all that. Take it away. ^^

(Ah, I can relate on the scanner issue, I'm afraid far too well. ^^;)

XD Thank you! This is very fun. Poor Yamino, caught between Thor and Fenrir! (ahaha, I didn't mean for you to have to write everything, just tossing out ideas for you to pick and choose from. Good luck with the revision.)

---

He had asked for full prophecies, yes; but after the ninth verse of cryptic rhyme, the beginnings of a headache were beginning to blossom above Lord Heimdall's right eye. The sad-eyed blonde witch paused after a particularly poetic quatrain involving Sturm und Drang, and Lord Heimdall decided that he had heard enough.

"Thank you for your time, ladies," he said, bowing stiffly towards them and hoping that the royal pair would take the hint. "It has been... very enlightening, talking to you."

The blonde looked at him with her sad, pitying gaze, the sort that one offers to a lamb being led to slaughter. "No good can come of seeking Loki, my lord." She stared out into the mist that surrounded them, as if seeing some distant future -- or recalling some buried past. "No good ever has."

"But more importantly," Kaiser Freyr said, peering into the pot, "what is that delicate, tantalising aroma?"

"Beef stew," the tall dark-haired witch replied cheerfully. "Care for a bowl?"

something appropriately great like a san guo yan yi au. except i know nothing about what happened, only names and big events, so no synopsis sorry. it would be epic enough though. lots of battles! strategy! scheming! burning ships! is this adequate description of concept?

one big problem with maloki AUs, at least for me, is the naming of the characters, which is why i cannot write a set-in-china piece. :\ of course i ignore this for any AU in which utgard loki appears/any AU that is not halfway historical, but i can only go so far. ( incidentally, the chinese transliteration for 'loki' is the same as that for 'rocky'. this does not help matters ( ... )

what about viking raiders? like in that bbc game.

why are your prompts so hard to work with. :\ making them normal people in a viking setting would be no fun, so all i can think of is to keep the canon plot but change the setting, and i don't think that things bode well for a small kid back in 10th century europe. to save myself from research, here's a bit from earlier in the epicfic:

---

Loki blinked. The line about justice sounded depressingly familiar. "Thor?"

The scrawny teenager stopped stabbing at Loki with his spear long enough to look sheepish. "Shut up."

"Thor!" Loki was dangerously close to laughter, and not merely out of relief. "Odin sent you here, didn't he-- but like this--"

"It's so I'd look less obvious," Thor said defensively. "Anyway, you're one to speak. You can't be much older than ten."

Loki was clearly not listening. "And Mjollnir-- don't tell me that spear is ( ... )

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages through the Stargate (bad TV reference, sorry) of the Starship Asgard. The pantheon (+/- Mayura and Spica)in a spaceship in the (insert appropriately futuristic time here)century. Someone is killing off various minor deities characters. All evidence points to First Officer Loki at this point; with only Ensign Yamino and the ship's (robo-)dog Fenrir to help him, together with an annoyingly perky passenger that they have picked up along the way from Crystal-Neo Tokyo, they must clear his name, and find out who the mysterious murderer is before it is too late...

i've never watched a scific tv series, so i hope you forgive my inability to connect with the genre. >_. this scene comes right after the disappearance of lieutenant baldr, a day after they picked up that civillian passenger.

---

"Commander Loki --"

"Just 'Loki' will do, Yamino. You're the only one on this ship who doesn't doubt me -- I think we can do with a little less formality."

"I--I've been trained to respect my superiors, sir." The hesitation in the ensign's voice was obvious, as was the reason for it: his conflicting loyalties to Loki and to protocol.

At the same time, there was an annoyed beeping from somewhere in the vicinity of Loki's ankles. Loki made an impatient gesture in Yamino's general direction, and bent down to pick up the ship's robo-dog. It made a wheezy, metallic sound of glee, wagging its approximation of a tail. Loki smiled indulgently. "Fenrir here -- no, I didn't forget you, Fenrir, you and Yamino both support me, don't you? -- Fenrir here doesn't think much of formality, does he now? Good boy, Fenrir ( ... )

OMG *fangirls you insanely* ^_^

This makes me smile with glee and hanker for episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise just so I can map Loki onto Riker, and Thor onto Worf, and Yamino onto Counsellor Troi, he's way too good at his job to be an ensign sorry I am just insane

Yamino observed the scene with worry. The stress really must have been getting to First Officer Loki, if he had begun seeking companionship in an AI

Ahaha this is so totally Yamino:D

Thor's always been on the right side, and this time it isn't mine.

He doesn't even make an appearance, and his character is already established. *loves*

Thankyou thankyou for this excerpt!

it doesn't matter about not being familiar with space shows, they're even more implausible than anime in many aspects. And crackier: the Asgard arc in the series Stargate SG-1 involves asexual alien scientists from the planet Asgard (who reproduce by cloning) coming to get DNA from other races to rescue their dying race (or something). Among the Asgardians (yes, that is what they are called) are ( ... )

am glad it worked for you! ^_^ your description of that stargate arc makes my brain hurt, so perhaps it is just as well that i've never watched any scifi. asexual alien scientists. *dead*

Odin/Baldr should be Q.
ahahaha, you just made me think of some twisted AU in which xsmoonshine is odin/baldr. x_x;;

Weiss! Mushishi! Mix and match at will. (bonus points for random insertion of cats.)

i couldn't decide which 'verse would lend itself better to an epicfic. ^_^;; you do get random cat appearances, though!

this first one is from the fic in which ginko travels around edo, meets some rather odd people and gets embroiled in a local power struggle. one of the strange acquaintances, a katana-wielding man, eventually saves him in recompense for the help he'd provided re: the mushi that makes hair change colour. this scene is from much earlier in the fic, of course.

---

The calico cat purred, nudging Omi's hand with its forehead. Omi frowned even as he reached out to scratch behind its ears. "Inuhakka... mushi? But it's inuhakka, so ( ... )

*ADORES.* weiss-mocking hahahahaha, irresistable in any time period, i see! (hair-color-changing mushi, oh man. well, there was the swamp, so it's not implausible -- lkfdasljk ginko meeting aya adfljka sorry brain breaks now)

meta in the second one had me on the floor dying, okay. ken's eyes! youji being all >:O! I HAVE NO PROBLEMS. LIES. ginko's codename ahahahaaaa.

thank you so much! i am rather incoherent at the moment, but. Ginko looked unimpressed. Then again, in the few days that he had been here, Omi had never seen him with any other expression. ohman. so true. -_-;;

ginko meeting aya would be so great. they could stand around going -_- at each other, assuming aya isn't in takatori-shineeee-mood. and i found the idea that each of weiss is infected with a particular mushi strangely compelling, so. :x

& you are very welcome! i am glad to have entertained. ^_^;;
