My father's empire is doing well enough without me, Koutarou thinks. But petulance doesn't become him, so he gives Kyouya a strained smile. "It's an interesting offer, Ootori, but I'd rather not. Anyway, isn't Suou already..."

"Ah. Yes. You're a bit too close to Tamaki's type, perhaps. But that's a small matter. And really, Kakinouchi-san, I hate to detain you like this. If you could be more agreeable, then perhaps the Hitachiin brothers would be more easily persuaded to undo their handiwork."

Speaking of which: Koutarou is still unconvinced that the usual treatment of 'host club trespassers' involves tying them up and stuffing them into a dark closet. Granted, those redheads had the decency to use Ouran's fine silk handkerchiefs for the purpose -- but style doesn't excuse unorthodox methods.

"Besides, Kakinouchi-san --" and suddenly Kyouya is very close, too close, as Koutarou blinks and leans back against the closet wall and tries not to panic "-- you might even find some... personal benefit, shall we say, in agreeing to this deal." His smile is surprisingly gentle.

i wonder too, actually. perhaps you can enlighten us! my boring version would just involve kou-chan being a new transfer student who wanders around the school and falls headlong into the host club. kind of like haruhi's entrance, really.

that's a perfectly good idea! and at least makes possible kou-chan's further adventures in Ouran than just a day mostly spent trying to find the room in the insanely opulent edifice in which his team is supposed to participate in a debate (and keeping Mayura from getting distracted by the mysterious black-caped figure with the cat puppet) :D

kou-chan, kyouya, and tamaki could form a support group! but it would probably just result in more blackmail material for kyouya tamaki getting paranoid about being supplanted, and kou-chan being clueless :p
