i poked around in the ffn section to try to get a feel for the pairing, but. er. oh well. i'll be waiting for the AU titled O Captain, My Captain, in which hijikata lectures a group of boys on the beauty of dead poets' haiku.
i also made a formatting error on the yuletide entry, oops. >_.

I watched it, I dunno, aeons ago? Was not generally excited, but I know what happens, more or less.

Hjikata/Souji is heartbreaking yet unsentimental, their interaction at the terminal stage of their relationship exactly as I imagine, especially:
But he can be careful, and precise, so he reaches out and brushes Souji's hair back with careful precision and hopes that that is close enough.
The theme fits so naturally to Tatsu who would be the one to give an account of everything, everyone down to the last man.
and you wrote an economics-themed fic, with the word cliometrics to boot! ^_~
Once again, thank you for making my night! ^_^
apologies this is so late, just got in from third night in a row of wining/dining the visiting overseas speakers for an endocrinology update that am helping to organise. if am sounding incoherent in any parts other than the praise, it's the alcohol XD

i must confess to having a soft spot for tatsu-nii. ^_^;;
the title is a homage to history S lessons, i admit! there is even worse economics-themed fic in the works, too. >_>
no need to apologise at all, yo. and -- wining and dining! eheh, hope it's been enjoyable, if tiring? i imagine you must be a very efficient organiser.

the Shinsengumi-wannabes fighting Souji each other in a mock-up of Ikedaya dark room as the Fukuchou tries to distract intones haiku at them)
Tatsu-nii needs more love, whereas ye grande OTP is on practically all the unfilled requests :D
ah, I see. economics-themed fic is good!
They enjoyed the food, at least. As for the update itself, all I can say is, am glad it's over >_> at least until next year

ahaha, yeah -- was highly amused by the unfilled requests list.
ah. ^_^;; well, happy catching-of-breath, then!

Worst is the way he says Hijikata-san: the breathlessness of the first two syllables giving way to the harshness of the next pair, the dying whisper of the last. Hijikata-san, Hijikata-san, until eventually Hijikata has to tell Souji to save his breath.
"I like the sound of your breathing," Souji says, in a tone so matter-of-fact that he could have been talking about the bag of sweets he had the other week, or the colour of the sky at sunset. He rests one hand just below Hijikata's collarbones. "And the beat of your heart. So steady and regular."
fabulous.
(this almost feels like it started as two different stories -- the hijikata/souji and then the tatsu? or i could be missing some terribly relevant point, i suppose, in which case i apologize!)

and thankyou. <3
( no, you aren't missing anything -- it is my inability to tie things together! ^_^;; was kind of torn between the cliometrics idea and the brodsky quote, yeah; i guess it wasn't so much that it started as two different stories -- more that things didn't come together? i shall limit myself to one conceit-type-thing per fic, next time. :D;; )

(reading it over, i think i can see where you're coming from now -- but yeah, a bit cluttered for the length, or at least the multiple characters. not that it's not an effective bit of writing nonetheless, mind. ^^)
