While shelving books at the library (oh yeah, I got a job there =)), I saw this big picture type book in the little kids section. It was titled, "The Red Tree". This book was more than just a picture book with a few words. It was something I was able to relate to. The words on each page were no more than 6 each. This is how the story goes:
sometimes the day begins with nothing to look forward to
And thing go from bad to worse
darkness over comes you
nobody understands
the world is a deaf machine
without sense or reason
sometimes you wait
and wait
and wait
and wait
and wait
and wait
and wait
but nothing ever happens
then all your troubles come at once
wonderful things are passing you by
terrible fates are inevitable
sometimes you just don’t know what you are supposed to do
or who you are meant to be
or where you are
and the day seems to end the way it began
but suddenly there it is right in front of you bright and vivid quietly waiting
just as you imagined it would be
The pictures to each page are amazing. It makes the book come to life and the words feel real as the wind. Mostly because each phrase is something I've thought of my self or experienced in my self.
I went to work, not in my own car yesterday. The transmission in my car went out on me. So I'm pretty much stuck with a car half the size as my old one, doors and all. D = But I could be in worse places, so i'm not that fussy. I read that book after all that happend and everything didn't seem so bad. At the end of the book, the last page shows this bright beautiful red tree in the little girls room. It completly changes her view of life, because this one surpise makes her happy. I haven't gotten my big red tree yet in the car department, but I'll be waiting and waiting.
I know, I know, it's a little kids book, but I love it. I want to steal from the library, but that would be wrong. I recomemend reading it, even tho you aren't a little kid. But I don't really think or know whether kids would get it, it was probably for kids your age. =)
