Pondering Facebook.

The downside to Facebook is this:

Reconnecting with a long lost friend from 20 years ago that you often wondered about and thought about fondly and then realizing that person is now a complete and utter pollitically extreme, racist, hateful, closed minded asshole.

Haha you just described 90% of my redneck midwestern highschool. This is why I love posting my personal views. Drives them crazy!

I imagine! I have only a couple people from highschool and they weren't people I was close with in high school which is odd but they are alright. I don't really talk to them still - just check up when I'm bored. I went to school in a red neck town before moving to NY so I wasn't really close with anyone in school!

I think we know the same person. He was awesome and smart and funny and brilliant in High School.

Now he's a father in the Quiverful movement with seven (and counting) homeschooled kids. He hates Obama, birth control, women's rights, or... well just about anything I like (not like I like Obama, but he's the lesser of the two evils for women, for Chrissakes.)

Yeah, QUIVERFUL. UGH. I want to bathe.

ha!!

Quiverful peoples scare me.

My person is like this:

"GO FUCK YOURSELVES MUZZIES! YOU'RE NOT WELCOME IN AMERICA!"

"GODDAMNED RAGHEADS SHOULD BE BEHEADED!"

"Liberals are cockroaches and should die!!!!!!!"

Facebook has many flaws... but those people who care to keep in touch with you are the real people in your life-even if you never meet personally. :) and doesn't matter if it's via mail, blog or facebook-we stay connected.

Oh don't get me wrong. I do like Facebook mostly. The pros outweigh the cons. I love being able to post a photo and having my mother, brother, grandmother and a dozen other people see it right away.

I had to "hide" an aquaintence recently - she's a raving mad conservative sort (of her own special variety) and I was thoroughly sick of the "PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID!" type posts, and insults to my intelligence for not agreeing with her political/financial views. She's welcome to post whatever she wants as her statuses etc... But I don't need to see it, and de-friending her I think is a bit too aggressive (or passive aggressive!). So, *hide*, and my blood pressure has gone down, and my ability to make nice small talk when I see her is greatly increased.
