i've been really really enjoying birdwatching the last couple weeks since the weather warmed up. just a little photo update of the woodpeckers i've spotted in the backyard.
yellow bellied sapsucker. they are so pretty, this photo does no justice.
tiny downy woodpecker. these are the most common and almost always have one on one of the suet feeders.
solitary and very private, only got a glance of a pair in flight a couple times. seem to have been just passing through. (red headed woodpecker)
northern flicker. hoping to lure these down to my feeders this year, i love these birds.
and last the red bellied woodpecker. i think i may have found a nesting hole in a dead tree in our backyard belonging to one of these guys. i'm going to be keeping an eye on it hoping for babies. :)
