AKB's 5th Senbatsu General Election

Apr 02, 2013 21:47

Sorry for the late post.  Last week AKB announced that they will be holding their 5th Senbatsu General Election again this year on June 8.  Yes, it will be held on the same day and venue as their "AKB48 Super Festival" at Nissan Stadium.   The concert will start at 3:00 pm while the election will start at 5:30 pm.

Compare to previous elections, there will be some differences for this election.  Unlike before, where all present members of the 48 family are automatic participants for the election, this year there will be candidacy system.  Under this system, the members who wish to participate for the election need to submit a written notice to the election executive committee, which is set at each theatre.  The reception desk will only be open for 8 days, from March 31 (12 pm) to April 7 (12 am).

The members who have the right to stand as a candidate are:
1) Members of AKB, SKE, NMB and HKT (as of March 31)
2) Team Kagai (former AKB48 who was send to the sister groups in overseas as part of the exchange programme)
3) Graduated members who have been the member of AKB groups for at least 4 years

Just like the previous years, 64 members will be elected for the upcoming 32nd single:
1) #1~#16 (32nd single senbatsu members)
2) #17~#32 (Under Girls)
3) #33~#48 (Next Girls)
4) #49~#64 (Future Girls)

Fans who can vote for the elections will includes those who purchase AKB's upcoming 31st single (unknown title) which will be on sale on May 22, fanclub members, mobile members and so on.  The voting period will be open from May 21 (10 pm) until June 7 (3 PM) JST.
I was quite excited when they announced this news last week.  I am looking forward to see which members will make it to the senbatsu this year, and which member will go up/down for their ranking this year.

I really wish for Yuuko to participate for the election again.  I don't want Mayuyu to get the no.1 position.  I hate seeing Mayuyu as the centre of the group, since she's quite plain and boring (compare to Jurina and Sayanee).  I also hope that Paruru, Sayanee and Milky will rank up and be part of 32nd single senbatsu member.

Too bad I couldn't vote them.  If I could, my vote will go to:
AKB - Paruru, Takamina, Yuihan, Yuuko
SKE - Churi, Jurina, Rena, Non
NMB - Milky, Sayanee
HKT - Haruppi
Kagai - Harugon
Graduated - Moeno, Shawako

It's a pity that JKT and SNH cannot participate for this election.  If not, I'll vote for Melody for sure.
