Rings, when worn, aren't cold. Metals, which most rings are made of, are excellent heat conductors and, thus, adapt to the wearer's body temperature very quickly. Even if you leave your wedding ring on the nightstand when you go to bed and then put back on in the morning, chances are that, unless you're sleeping in a refrigerator, it will be at room temperature (i. e. not cold).
There are certain notable exceptions, such as jewellery made from hematite. I am not a geologist, and as such cannot tell you the physiological reason for the phenomenon, but as a jewellery wearer I can tell you from exhaustive testing that hematite turns motherfucking freezing if left to its own devices at room temperature. We're talking a chain of ice cubes around your neck here, people! Still, even hematite absorbs body heat quickly and is close to indistinguishable from your hand in terms of temperature.
So it really makes no sense to have one in three fics mention how cold Adam's rings feel on Kris' cock. Unless he took them from the freezer seconds before this happy occasion, the rings will share his body temperature.
This is one of those things that never cease to baffle me as a reader. Why mention it in the first place if you don't know? I sort of understand the lovely misconception that you can stimulate someone's prostate with your tongue while rimming them because it's an activity a lot of people probably haven't engaged in and they just have to guess (though, even then, information is widely available for research) but doing this for something as simple as wearing rings, really?
Why would you put such an irrelevant detail into your fic, and then get it wrong? If you seriously have never worn a ring in your finger or shaken hands with anyone wearing one, just freaking leave it out :P How do you even mention something like that if you don't know what it feels like? How does it come up with? Why do you think of it? I love people including little extraneous details in their fics but I imagine those are usually driven by things they've noticed in real life. But you can't notice rings being cold, because they aren't!
