I saw Adam a couple of weeks ago <3
My seat wasn't great, but Hammersmith Apollo isn't a massive venue so I could still tell it was him on the stage. *g*
I arrived at the venue before doors were due to open, and I was completely bowled over by the queue! It snaked around itself several times, and I was sure I'd be standing there for ages, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. Barely 20 minutes after the doors opened, I was walking through them! Amazing work from the staff. I grabbed a poster and a programme from the merch stand before things got too crazy, and then took my seat and browser tumblr through the opening act. I wasn't very respectful, but I figured it wasn't like the band would ever know.
When Adam finally took the stage, he sang a couple of songs from the first album, a few more from Trespassing, but obviously focused on The Original High. Which is kind of a shame for me, because as much as I love Adam and his voice, I just don't enjoy The Original High. Apart from a two or three songs on the album, I feel like his voice is completely wasted on the watered-down elevator muzak. Okay, that's mean, but I do feel like the sounds could be sung by anyone out there. Adam makes the kind of music he likes, and that is absolutely his right, but I feel like he should make more use of his gorgeous voice.
That little rant aside, I had a great time. I can't wait to see him perform with Queen in Finland in June!
