glass houses

We had a busy week. N's cousin J came arrived on Tuesday and left Sunday morning, which kept us distracted enough that I didn't even post that second Teen Wolf reaction post that I wasn't supposed to do in the first place.

J is fortunately independent enough that he was happy to explore the city on his own while we were at work but we did go out for lunch and dinner with him. He spent quite a lot time shopping which is pretty unusual for any guy in my circles.

He's somewhat unusual anyway - he's over thirty, but as far as anyone knows, he's never dated anyone. I'm tempted to ask if he's asexual, too, and bond but we're not really close enough for me to stick my nose in his personal life.

On Wednesday, N and I finally got to see The Book of Mormon! It was just as amazing as I'd been hoping for, although they'd made tons of changes to I Am Africa, which is one of my favourites. But it was brilliant to get context for the soundtrack that I've been listening to obsessively since the beginning of the year.

The UK Mormon church has been advertising everywhere in London for several months, I assume in response to the musical's arrival here, and I even glimpsed one of their ads in the official programme the person in front of me was reading.

I also want to tip my hat to the Prince of Wales Theatre. This was my first time there, and it's definitely one of the best. For once the Circle seats had a deep enough slope that you were able to see everything, not just half the stage and the back of the head of the person in front of you.

J had been visiting places on his own during the week, but on Saturday we joined him in conquering the city. We started with Regent Street and Jermyn Street (which is basically a more affordable version of Savile Row), before heading to the Borough Market for lunch.

Right around the corner was The Shard, which was our next stop. The £25 entrance fee is steep but damn if the view isn't worth it. We spent a good forty-five minutes just admiring the scenery, and continued our tour of the East and tried out the Emirates Air Line cable cars that go over the Thames. Great ride but way too short! We rounded up the evening in our local Cote.
