Mikeygate
Drama isn't my thing, and fandom drama even less so. It's too exhausting, and, frankly, I just don't care about people and their feelings about the issue du jour. Because of this, I generally only follow the journals/blogs/tumblrs of what I term stable people, which blissfully leaves me out of the loop when it comes to fandom scandals.
Occasionally I'll get a glimpse into the world of crazy when, say,
harriet_vane posts about the things One Direction fans do to their idols (let alone their idols' significant others). When that happens, I shake my head at people and forget about it.
But now the Mikeygate has reached such epically hysterical proportions that I just have to document some of it for posterity. All links and quotes courtesy of

The story so far has been recounted here and here, but the gist of it is that Mikey Way has apparently cheated on his wife with a 19-year-old groupie. People very invested in the lives of total strangers are going crazy across the globe, and especially so on Tumblr.
For me, the best part of the whole thing so far is that he got his new girlfriend the same engagement ring as his wife. I just can't get over how gloriously, hilariously awful that is. It's been a couple of days now and still thinking about it makes me giddy. Oh, Mikey.

- my thoughts about this thing are still “you need to make it work - for the tattoos” [editor's note for when I eventually forget: Mikey and Alicia have matching ones.]
- even the Glee fandom is more coherent.
- ive read countless fics with mikey cheating or any of the guys cheating but we dont care cause its with another band member. now that one of them has actually cheated, it feels like one of the main reasons we’re angry is because its not with pete.
- It hasn't been this bad since the time we found out Mikey doesn't actually love unicorns...
- I think what we all have learned from this Mikey situation is don’t have an affair with someone who has internet access.
- what about the fics with mikey/alicia in them, it will never be the same
- i’m sure they’re regretting the whole ‘killjoys make some noise’ line now because none of you are shutting the fuck up
