Rock n'n Roll Nerd

We finally got to see Tim Minchin live yesterday!

After Sonisphere was cancelled in the summer and we failed to get tickets to another gig, I was starting to think it just wasn't going to happen. But N managed to snatch us tickets to a club gig in Elephant and Castle, and last night was the night.

All the seats were unfortunately sold out but standing was definitely better than not going at all. We turned up about half an hour before it was set to start, only to find a queue that went around several hundred meters! I still don't know what the hell they were doing at the entrance but it took us 45 minutes to get inside.

By that time he's already delayed the start, and even then we missed the first few songs. Fortunately those were non-comedy ones, so we weren't terribly fussed.

"He tend's not to go rock concerts because he can't stand the massive queues in the freezing cold..."

Standing at the back, we couldn't see very much (and N was stuck behind a pillar) but oh my god, the acoustics in that place! They actually sounded like the venue was designed with music in mind, which in sadly rare in the Finnish music club scene.

The setlist wasn't very long but seeing Tim Minchin live was absolutely worth the ticket price and more. He's amazing, improvising and reacting to the crowd. Plus he sang several of my favourites, like Rock 'n' Roll Nerd, Prejudice, Darkside and White Wine in the Sun.
