Adam at the Royal Albert Hall

I'm a bad fan, when it comes to stalking knowing where the objects of my interest are at any given time. Luckily, I know people who are better at it.

Last week a girl I went to university with messaged me on facebook to tell me she'd be in London for a couple of days and ask if I wanted to meet up after work. It turned out she was flying to London for three days to see Adam sing three songs at a charity concert. She's aso previously followed Adam on tour all over Europe and even to Toronto. Next to this girl, I'm kind of hesitant to even call myself a fan.

To my amazement, there were still tickets left, and I booked two for N and me. N wasn't terribly excited about spending 55 pounds on three songs by a singer he's not even particularly into, but he's a very good boyfriend and didn't put up any sort of fuss.

The charity in question, by the way, is Rays of Sunshine, an organisation that grants wishes to seriously ill children.

Our seats were very decent, in the stalls with a good view of the stage, though you wouldn't believe it just looking at the pictures. I have a very basic digital camera that doesn't handle distance well, so it looks like we were sitting some 200 metres away:

Fortunately I wasn't the only one with a camera, so have some proper pictures:

Adam sang Trespassing, Cuckoo and Never Close Our Eyes. He was also the only performer that didn't talk about what awesome work Rays of Sunshine were doing and how very honoured he was to be there. *g*

Sadly they've made all the really good videos unavailable by now but here are two that work for now:

Adam was the third to perform and very unexpectedly clearly the least known to the audience. He got a very polite applause but apart from a handful of enthusiasts here and there, that was it (Adam is, by the way, referred to by the Royal Albert Hall website as a 'singer-songwriter'. And fair enough, he does both, but is it just me who's used to associating that term with certain types of acts?)

Conversely, the rest of the acts were utterly unfamiliar to N and me. Leona Lewis was the only name that rang any bells, and even that was only because, as N realised, because a German band Baseballs have covered her song Bleeding Love. Other performers were Alexandra Burke, Conor Maynard, Pixie Lott, Spelbound (a great gymnastic troupe), Stooshe, and the evening's big star: a boyband called JLS. The audience was nuts for them but N and I were nowhere near as impressed and snuck out halfway through their act to avoid the rush.

We weren't home until just before midnight and I had to get up at 6:30 in the morning, so I was like a zombie on Friday, but it was definitely worth it!
