It's been raining almost non-stop in the UK for the past three weeks. This is the
wettest April in record (i.e. since 1910), with
flood warnings across England.
Still, nothing out of the ordinary, right? It rains in Britain? Stop the presses!
But the catch here is that the record-breaking rainfall follows two very dry winters, which have caused water companies to issue hosepipe bans, as the groundwater levels are at a historic low.
Maybe having ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife is not ironic, but I would say pictures like this are:
