Of all things, this is NOT what I needed

It ends up that my son has fifth disease. Yes, I know.. it isnt something you hear alot about, but has been around for awhile now.
I didnt know what was going on. He had a track meet last Wednesday, and then on Friday he had such red cheeks, I thought it was a severe sunburn (since he's been out in the sun so much recently). He also ran a very low fever. So, I treated it like a sunburn. He also had a runny/stuffy nose, so I treated it like allergies, with Claritin. Then on Friday of last week, he woke up with his arms covered in a red, blotchy, bumpy rash that looked horrible. He said it was itchy. I didnt know what it was. I thought it was poison oak or ivy, but it didnt look quite like it... too much skin was affected by it. So, I gave him some Benadryl and put some Hydrocortizone cream on it and sent him to school. I told him to go to the school nurse and have him check it out. He ended up saying it was a heat rash. I knew better than that! They let him go out and do water balloons and play outside, knowing he had this, and knowing I told them to keep him out of the sun. grrr... so, it made it 10x as bad (itching). By the time he got home, it spread over his torso and legs. So, I took him to a nurse friend of mine, and she said it wasnt a heat rash (which I knew that) and that it didnt look like poison oak or ivy. She said it looked like the fifth disease, and for me to take him to the doctor today. So I did and the doctor comfirmed her story. We have had a very long couple of days. Very stressful and needful. I feel so bad for the poor little guy! The doctor said my husband and I have a 50% chance of getting it as well. :( I do NOT need that right now! I had a lot of great people talking to me and helping me during my time of need. I did baking soda baths, Benadryl, anti-itch creams, and calamine lotion. He seems to be a little better tonight. There is no cure for the fifth disease. It just has to run it's corse. All I can do is keep doing what I am doing until it is gone.
