Ugh...I have been so bored. All I do is eat, sleep, go to work, and in between there I wander around wondering what I should be doing. I have odds an ends of business to attend to be I keep procrastinating because I think that I should be doing something fun with my time off. This summer has so far been so boring I can't stand it.
But anyway...I have come up with this game I call "Freak of the Day". I always seem to have at least one weirdo come to my register and freak me out, so I thought I would tell ya'll about them. The other day I had this one guy try to argue that something was on sale for 11.79 when I had just sold it to him for 11.99. I kinda looked at him confused because I was in awe that he was going argue 20 cents with me. I told him that I could go back and look at the sign if it was really that important, and he said "Well, it is 20 cents". So, I looked in the ad and it said 11.99 and I showed him...he didn't seem to thrilled but finally he left. Twenty whole cents....geez!
The second freak that is worth noting is this guy who thought I was withholding single bills from him because as a cashier I want to keep my change. It was about 10 minutes until the end of my shift and I only had 3 singles, but I didn't want to call for change because I knew I could make it on 3 singles for 10 minutes. This guy happened to need 5 dollars back in change and he wanted singles. I told him I did not have enough singles and I'd have to give him a five or a whole bunch of quarters. So he went on and on about cashiers wanting to keep their singles. He asked me if he owed me $10 if I would rather have singles and I said yes, so he said, "see you guys want singles so that you have change". Then he said, "what do you do with the singles?" I wasn't sure what he meant and by now he was creeping me out, but he kept repeating the question. Finally I said that I guess we use them as change, and he said, "see you want to keep them for change". I tried to tell him that I wasn't lying about not having the singles to give him, and that I was about to get off work so I didn't want to ask for more. This didn't work, and he still thought that the whole thing was some sort of conspiracy against him getting singles, and that I was lying to him that I didn't have enough to give him. Freak!
