Day 21 → A recipe

My co-worker Jill (you remember her... the one from the previous post with her daughter in her lap) makes this deliciousness for all our work functions. If you make this, you can't even let your mind wander to calorie count. Quickly take the first bite and you will be shoveling the rest of it in until you pass out from a sugar coma.

Because I love you more than you love your waist line:

Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding with Butter Rum Sauce

18 Krispy Kreme donuts (at least one day old)

· 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

· 1 cup whole milk

· 2 eggs, beaten

· 1 pinch of salt

· 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

· ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg

· ½ tsp. vanilla

· Butter Rum Sauce recipe follows

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cube donuts into a large bowl (I used a large deep pan). Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for about 5 - 10 minutes. Stir and mix all ingredients together every few minutes to allow all the pieces to soak up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake in a greased 13x9 inch pan for about 45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the pan. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.

Butter Rum Sauce:

1 stick of butter (unsalted)

1 pound of confectioners’ sugar

Dark Rum, to taste ( I am always generous)

Melt butter and slowly add in confectioners’ sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving or over the entire pan.
