Meme - Day 4: Favorite Book
I agonized over this! How can I have one favorite book? Gah.
Top Three it is then.
1) Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
My grandmother gave me the eight book series of these for Christmas when I was a little girl. I turned my nose up at them... boring Christmas gift right?! Wrong! They turned out to be one of the most influential books I've ever read. I loved creative, clumsy Anne who made the best out of everything. I imagined myself to be a lot like her and the romance between her and Gilbert was one of the first stories to make me a romantic. :)
2) Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
One of my first fantasy reads. I was blown away by Tolkien's intensely descriptive characters, worlds, story lines and imagination. I've read it multiple times, with new insight each time. My Tolkien class I took at Oxford sealed the deal on this book.
3)American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
I actually just finished this book. I was amazed at how quickly I was engrossed by this strange and mysterious book. One of those few books that made me think and changed my perspective on things. If you've never read this, it's a must.
