terrible dream

Jun 01, 2005 00:14

It's 1:14 AM in the morning, and I just woke up from having one of the worst dreams I've ever had.

This is only as I percieved it, and so I'm not intending to be racist or anything. I'm only telling my dream as it happened.

Dad had just gotten off of work, so I had to go get him. Well I went to a gas station to get him and myself a drink when a tall black man approached my car. I was standing outside of my car at the time.

"Hey man, my ride isn't here and I need to get home."
"Uhh....alright, where do you live?"
"I'm driving."
"You might have a hard time since my brother is your height and he has problems driving the car."
"Nah, man it's cool. I just live up the street."

So he got into the car with the seat pulled all the way back. I was in the back seat.

As we were driving, he popped in a few of my CDs. I remember hearing a few songs by Journey, the first song from Asia "Silent Nation", and the first song from Dreamtheatre. The man remarked, "Man, what is this sh*t? You need some rap!"

We got to a three-way intersection. Ahead of us was a ledge with a narrow road. The man tried to turn left but the car slowly tilted over the ledge. "Oh sh*t look out!", I yelled. He regained control of the car, but it hit a metal divider and scraped the driver-side of the car. He drove back up the road and turned right.

He was driving down the road when we crossed a wooden bridge over a section of Mobile Bay. The man was too busy headbanging to Dreamtheatre when the car tilted over the side again. This time, he landed into some soft mud. There was a wooden pier there that I landed on when I jumped out. I never saw the man since then, but my car was too heavy and sunk into the mud, which became part of the water. The driver side was still visible, with the back door open.

"DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!!!", I began to yell. I sat on the pier and started to sob, remembering that our family had already spent a lot of money on previous housework so pulling my car out of Mobile Bay would not be affordable. I slowly pulled out my cell phone and called Dad....

That was when I woke up. I got up and got a drink, and started to get hiccups. As I turned on the computer, Matt awoke, saying loudly, "There it is!", and then he went back to sleep.

I'm sure this will greatly affect how I feel when I wake up later this morning, and I'm beginning to question if any of this has to do with the fact that I've been reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The black man might have had some reflection of Jim in the story, although he looked similar to a friend of mine in high school.
