Ramblings About Church

Jul 19, 2005 19:40

Yeah, so this entry is about church and Wednesday nights.

It all started back....mm...it was in April, that our church decided to shake things up. AGAIN. *rolls her eyes* They decided that if ANYONE wanted to lead anything, they had to attend these...Saturday morning sessions that were so utterly boring. It was all I could do to stay awake. Literally. And then at the end of these sessions, they made us sign an agreement (yes, an agreement), stating that we agreed with everything they had said, and that we would attend church, and attend on Wednesday nights.

To summarize, I found the sessions exceedingly boring, and I HATE going on Sunday mornings, and I HATE Wednesday nights. The only thing that's keeping me there, are my kids! So, I signed the agreement, and I suffer through an hour on Sunday mornings, and an hour and 15 on Wednesday nights.

I know I shouldn't be saying such things, but if you came, you'd absolutely agree. Our church...it's so dry! It's stuffy, and boring. Doesn't help that we have people who like to do mini sermons that make no sense. And at the end, it's always the same line "Wasn't that a wonderful time?" And my MOM and I look at each other, and mouth "no". And my dad agrees at times. But I mean...is that sad? I'm supposed to be enjoying Sunday mornings, instead I hate them.

And then Wednesday nights aren't much better. I admit, they're a fraction better now that we're using a book to go through the passages. But it's annoying when you're stuck in a group where one person HAS to say the last word. Doesn't matter if it isn't related...he just has to say something. Ugh.

Sunday School is my sanity though. I love it! Mia (4), Josiah (4), John (5) and Jeremiah (6). Mia's just a little pistol. She's chinese and adopted, and she's got the world wrapped around her little finger (mainly because she's so cute!). But as she's becoming older...she's getting to be interesting to deal with. Josiah is a terror when he wants to be. But I do admit, he's getting better. He constantly disobeys (to the point if I ask him if he wants to go upstairs, he'll usually straighten up, because he doen't want to get a spanking!), and the kids LOVE to tattle. John's a sweetie. He's a boy, but he's kinda quiet, and the only problem with him, is that he doesn't listen very well. Jeremiah's hilarious to be around. He's the most energetic 6 year old I know!!!! Jeremiah's a sweetie too. He's the best behaved in my class!

We're trying to learn the books of the bible. Mia can pretty much say the entire old testament, John and Jeremiah know the first 5 for sure, and Josiah knows them, but keeps forgetting Leviticus! "Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Dueteronomy". Oh man. What a task!
