Can't stop spreading the word

... so here goes. A bazillion thanks to zute69 for sharing this with me.

We're not quite broke, but like a lot of people we've had to ask for help when it comes to basic needs... like food. And my darling friend (who is a single mom trying to hold things together herself) told me about Angel Food. Now, y'all know I'm not fond of charity in the first place. Or of religion tied into those things. But let me tell you something: it doesn't matter when you're hungry, or worried about what you can scrape together for a meal for your family.

I can't tell you how many people I've shared this with, but I know there's more than my immediate circle who could benefit from this. It's not charity; there's a modest little fee to order food from this place. But let me tell you something: for $30 (which doesn't go very far in this day and age when it comes to food), I got all this:

1.5 lb ribeye steaks
4 lbs chicken leg quarters
1.5 lbs beef patties
18 oz package of cheese filled manicotti
2 lbs pork rib strips (that I have to learn what to do with, because I've never cooked them before)
1 lb chicken breast fajita strips
1 lb ground turkey
1 lb frozen broccoli
1 lb frozen peas
6 ct pack of instant oatmeal
32 oz shelf-stable milk (which I thought would be powdered, but isn't)
8 oz blueberry muffin mix
12 ct white corn tortillas
1 lb pinto beans (not in a can, either.)
7 oz chicken flavored rice & vermicelli
a dozen eggs
and a dessert that turned out to be a box of oatmeal cookies

FOR THIRTY DOLLARS. The deals change every month, but they take foodstamps, cash and money orders, and some places I've seen them even do it online (like for my buddy in Toledo.)

I've just saved myself a whole lot of frustration over food prices. Check it out, it might help you. There's no qualifying... their motto is "If you eat, you qualify!"

Check 'em out. http://www.angelfoodministries.com/
