I'm back-sooner than I expected(I know, such a looong time) and a little saddened and humbled, but mostly happy.  And since I'm a self-confessed movie fanatic, I celebrated randomly by looking up upcoming films. Here are the ones I want to watch..
-The Illusionist, a supernatural mystery starring Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, Jessica Biel, and- Rufus Sewell! It's directed by the producers of Crash and Sideways, and based on a book. I think it looks really interesting. It's coming out on August 18. Watch the preview here-http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=12799
-The Prestige, a thriller about magicians starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johannsen, Piper Perabo,Michael Caine, and possibly Jude Law for one of the lead roles(talk about an all-star cast! And this will be the second movie this year that Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johannsen will be starrring in together, Scoop being the other one) http://movies.go.com/movies/movie?name=prestige_2004
-Nicole Kidman has four movies on the way this year, among them a remake of Witness for the Prosecution starring Al Pacino,a court drama based on an Agatha Christie story,  in which she plays a wife appearing as a witness in her husband's prosecution, and a long-put-off epic The Lady from Shanghai with Hugh Jackman. http://www.moviehole.net/news/20060714_nicole_kidman_joins_witness_re.html
-BBC is making a new Colin Firth film, yummy!-    http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2006/05_may/31/london.shtml
And then the two big blockbusters, of course, Spiderman and Casino Royale. I wasn't expecting to want to watch Casino-I don't like Daniel Craig, and come on-another James Bond? But I just watched the preview for the first time and it actually does look decent. But it's Spiderman I'm really looking forward to, even if I am bummed that they had to do the whole dark-side thing. Plus, there's always the very cute James Franco...Actually, scratch that. I'd forgotten-it won't be coming out until 2007. Grrr.
I'm also looking forward to Hollywoodland, with Adrien Brody(have I mentioned that he's one of my favorite actors?) Diane Lane, and Ben Affleck , and  to Trust the Man, with David Duchovny, Julianne Moore, Maggie Glylenhaal, and Billy Crudup, found, respectively, here.

And, of course, the movie adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass, which I hope Nicole Kidman does consent to play in. Not to mention Eragon, which already has Jeremy Irons and John Malkovitch.
