Computer crashed, so my HIATUS may go a few weeks more. But I shall be back...
In the meantime, just briefly, a few things I'm wildly excited about-
-
-The Nanny Diaries, starring Scarlett Johanssen and based on a bestselling Brit book(I read it and thought it fairly mediocre but that, I suspect, is because it's the type of book written to be made into a film)
Trailer Oh, and did I mention it also stars the yummiful Chris Evans?
-Stardust, starring lots of young, middle-aged, and old beautiful people among them one of my favorites, Claire Danes, and it looks absolutely FABULOUS, I've given up lately going to see movies in the theater but for this I'll make an exception. We don't get enough romantic fantasy(or fantasy, for that matter) especially good ones. :) Going to read the book just as soon as I'm done with The Forsyte Sage(700 pages to go) I have plenty of time as it's coming out July 27. Watch the trailer quickly
HERE on Youtube before it disappears.
-Nancy Drew-don't ask me why I'm so excited about this-actually do. I know why. A) I grew up on and still adore the books, they're a quintessnetial part of my childhood and B) the trailer actually makes it look cute *gasp* Not cheesy or corny(well, anymore than this type of film would normally be) but instead the bubblegum-comforting type of film that say, Legally Blonde was, with a dash of Clueless and Scooby Doo. Stars Emma Roberts. I recommend the
trailer. :)
-Colin Firth! has approximately
six new films coming up, of which the two most exciting looks like The Last Legion-"As the Roman empire crumbles, young Romulus Augustus flees the city and embarks on a perilous voyage to Britain to track down a legion of supporters" also starring Aishwarya Rai, the lovely Indian actress from Bride and Prejducie-wildly excited about this one- and The Colossus with Rachel Weisz(yay! dream team) as well as Ian McKellan and Susan Sarandon.
-Hugh Dancy is pairing with our friend Tess a.k.a Nicola Walker from MI:% in Beyond the Gates -
Trailer More exciting things:
The Return of Sherlock Holmes-
"Many have tried to reinvent Sherlock Holmes for modern audiences and many have failed but that isn't stopping Warner Bros. from trying again. The studio has set Neil Marshall (THE DESCENT) to direct a Sherlock Holmes film that would reinvent the slueth as a modern day action hero. The studio is hoping that Marshall can do for Holmes what Christopher Nolan did for Batman in BATMAN BEGINS. The script would lose some of Holmes' "stuffiness" and would instead return him to some early Arthur Conan Doyle novels that showcase his boxing and sword-fighting prowess. Marshall is currently working on his follow-up to THE DESCENT, Rogue Pictures' DOOMSDAY, and Warners is moving ahead quickly to make sure the Holmes film is his next assignment. I'm not sure how this will play for US audiences but it's certainly worth a shot. I think it's a lot better than having Chris Tucker star in SHERLOCK HOMEBOY or something equally as ridiculous. Michael Johnson is currently working on the script based on the upcoming graphic novel by Lionel Wingram."-VAriety
"Colin Farrell, Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes and Willem Dafoe have signed on to the Iraq-set action drama titled THE HURT LOCKER, for director Kathryn Bigelow (K19: THE WIDOW MAKER). The movie is about an elite bomb disposal team who are thrust into a cat-and-mouse game in a city where every person is potentially an enemy and every object, potentially a bomb. "
Two good actors, one bad, hmm...
Scarlett Johansenn,The Other Boleyn Girl, and Ewan McGregor's next film...
Kristin Bell films! A romantic comedy, you go girl! *sigh* I haven't been able to watch Veronica Mars in forever.
Note: Is anyone else getting tired of Julianne Moore being everywhere? She never did much for me but after watching Children of Men she went straight into my boring/dislike category since I realized that in spite of all the trumpeting about what a good actress she is she brings no spark or flame to any of her characters. She's in
Blindness with Daniel Craig next *mourn* way to ruin a good actor by pairing him with an irritating actress. In my opinion, she's a poor substitute for Cate Blanchett, who is not only a better actress but actually brings some humanity to her roles and has a likable personality-which is why, while I consider it odd, I'm glad it's she and not not J Moore set to be the
next Indy girl.
Oh, and Emily Watson, Rupert Everett, and Colin Firth are teaming up(again) -
St. Trinian's.
And Ocean's Thirteen *sigh* will include Al Pacino.
Teaser See you all later, lovely people!
