You must remember this...a kiss is just a kiss

Just finished Casablanca. It was marvellous. :)  I can see why it's considered one of the few really essential films(and no, I don't think I'd count Gone with the Wind as one of them) I do agree about this movie, though - it had so many classic moments and most of all such a classic plot. It's one of those central movies from which all romance-film-plots have stemmed from.  I'm afraid The African Queen didn't convert me to Humphrey Bogart but The Maltese Falcon did, so I was glad to see him again, and as for Ingrid Bergman, I can't believe how wonderfully expressive her face is, not to mention how stunningly beautiful she is. Although I have to admit I did think that famous line "Here's lookin' at you, kid" was repeated a few too many times - but maybe I just tired of it more easily because I've heard it before.  While that may be the most famous thing about it, I don't think that's it most classic or meaningful part-I think that's the song, As Time Goes By(full lyrics here and listen to it). Those words, to me, are the heart of the movie and really capture its theme. It was lovely, over all. Won't become one of my favorite films of all time, but I'm very glad I watched it.

Here, by the way is an absolutely gorgeous wallpaper  of the film I found on a random site.
