North and South, Spooks

Velp, I finished North and South. Three days. Not a record for me but sooner than I was expecting. I admit I stayed up until about 3:00 last night reading it madly, and then read the last couple of chapters this afternoon after I got home from school. There are few  books I care enough about to stay up late for, but every now and again a book  ( Read more... )

I love Spooks!! I really do!! I started watching because of Matthew Macfadyen and I had the same doubts you have about liking the rest after he left and I simply adore it!!! The series is different but is still one a very good spy series.

I am not impartial since I love Rupert Penry-Jones (Adam) but even I, who loves the actor replacing Matthew, had my doubts about it... Now I can say that the change was for good. Matthew (Tom) was one thing and Rupert (Adam) is a total different character and the dynamic among the team is also different but really interesting.

One thing you learn about Spooks after watching the 4 series is that nobody is so important to the show that he or she can't be killed and well, in a spies world, that is kind of true, isn't it? (not Bond like where he is unstoppable and super hero like).

I truly recommend you to keep watching, anyway. This weekend starts series 5 in UK and can't wait to see what they prepared for the two parts series beginning!!!

Apart from that, the Tom and Keeley leaving so close, for what I've read was their decision, the actors decision, so the writers had to fit it in the story line. It wasn't something planned by them. Matthew wanted to leave the series to work in some other projects and Keeley decided to leave don't know if for pregnancy or also for new projects, but as I say, it was their decision.

Interesting-thanks for the info.:D And opinion. Although I can't keep watching at the moment as Netflix doesn't have it and we don't get any Brit channels. *sigh* I'll just buy the series later on and watch it straight through I think. But I still regret Tom...
