Hmm, I watched Miss Marple: Murder at the Vicarage night before last and it was quite good. In spite of the lack of the James factor(the last one I saw, I think it was the Moving Finger, had James D'Arcy in all his gorgeousness) I love virtually all Brit TV shows and under that subheading I love all Agatha Christie and definitely Miss Marple-I just love the quiet restraint and ironic, understated irony and humour. It's fabulous. But most interesting, when they advertized the next one they'd be playing(I get Mystery! once a week or less) I could swear I saw Keeley Hawes. Does anyone know if she's ever in any Miss Marple episodes? *wants to know*
In other news,
crymeariver_ has an extra-specially-nice set of Horatio Hornblower icons
here(be sure to credit her) and
mellafe had a dream in which she turned into a vampire and Thornton sailed in and rescued her. *is dead jealous* Hmm, speaking of which, I wonder when the book will get here...I know, I only ordered it yesterday, but that doesn't mean I can't obsessively check its progress, right?
Also, in case any of you missed it ,
here is the just-released trailer for the new Jane Eyre, in which they go the route of ridiculous melodrama/horror in advertizing it but it still looks lovely(btw, if I'm misspelling advertizing, let me know. Because I have a sinking feeling that I am) I've decided to give up on hoping that they'll ever make a Jane Eyre that equals or even nears the book, particularly Rochester's character. Because he's darn near impossible to capture. Both of the main actors that have played him so far, William Hurt and Ciaran Hinds(in
Franco Zeffirelli's 1996 film and the
1977 BBC version, respectively) both captured parts of him, William Hurt the charisma and sudden, devastating charm that he could exert and Ciaran Hinds his ugliness and rough, changeable manner and tempestuous nature, but neither really caught him, the man Rochester himself. After all it's incredibly difficult to at once portray realistically and fully his faults and true nature and make him sypathetic enough so that you like him, as well as capturing the complexity of his character. I can already see that Toby Stephens(although I like his looks) doesn't quite capture his roughness-from what I can see he's a little too good. But yes, still looking forward to it... I'm also plagued by the conviction that I've seen the actress that plays Jane before, but I can't remember where...
And finally you can watch pretty much all of the short season of Kyle XY here on Youtube-great show, don't miss it, especially as it's returning next season.
KYleAnd, continuing my Youtube obsession, a Veronica and Logan music video set to the FABULOUS song How to Save a Life by The Fray
http://www.youtube.com/v/6AoAONrAABsAnd a Sam/Jack shipper vid from Stargate, unusually lyrical, largely due to the fact that it's set to Celine Dion's song I Surrender.
