when you were young

Jan 04, 2007 20:43

soooooo, I keep forgetting to post these days, which is par for the course because most of my friends list hasn't posted in years. fuck ya'll!

anyways, time to do traditional year-end round-up. Should be good since 2006 kicked my ass.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Interned at the Pilot, found myself a job, found myself an apartment, paid bills, wrecked my car in another state, talked to a shirtless man in the middle of town.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't remember if I had a resolution, but it was probably to work hard and make straight A's. I made one B (grrrr), but I graduated cum laude, which is still pretty great. This year I just want to be healthier; eat better, exercise and get more sleep.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? I don't think so.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not this year, although many people close to me lost other people.

5. What countries did you visit? I went to the Rockingham County Fair. That was pretty country.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? A vacation; more money; to live near Sean; the will to get things accomplished.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? August 4, because that's when Ryan went through the fire and we all gathered around him. It was refreshing to see how much your college family really means.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Growing up i.e. graduating with honors, finding a job, finding an apartment and furnishing that apartment all by myself.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not pushing myself harder to pursue my interests; it's harder to stay motivated out of a school system.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? i got food poisoning. That was pretty wretched.

11. What was the best thing you bought? New bed and new bed's comforter, which is quilted white satin. Hot.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My grandparents for helping me through the car issue, my parents for their support, my friends for their ongoing support and love and Sean for driving 3 1/2 hours week after week just to spoon and eat Five Guys.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? all kinds of people. I'm in journalism; someone appalls me every day.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? somewhere in between
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter!
iii. richer or poorer? richer, but that doesn't mean much.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? god, let's tell the truth: Borat and The Devil Wears Prada.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? On the real day, I worked overtime. On the fake ones, I had Thai and Olive Garden, went to Bonterra and played Trivial Pursuit, went to Perkins with Dad and Applebee's with Jamie

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Living near/with Sean or closer to friends.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006: Growing up happens fast, but it's not a nightmare. It's just different and the trick is keeping it fun and continuing to learn. Hopefully I'll master that.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: This is lame and embarrassing but, "And sometimes you close your eyes and see the place where you used to live when you were young" by The Killers
