Pest Control Part Two

Dec 16, 2008 21:36

After surveying the damage to my belongings from Friday's raid, I find myself even more pissed off than I was then.  I had to take my cats to the vet, including the homeless kitten.  They are going to be okay, but all of them have to be on medication, and the kitten has to be bottle fed until I can get him to start eating again.  The vet guessed 7 to 10 days.  She had to do a toxic screening on all of them, flush their systems with saline, etc.  So after an unexpected vet bill of $375.00 you can bet I was pretty angry.

Then came the call from my dry-cleaner.  Only half of the clothes I brought in to have repaired from the damage these chemicals did were repairable.  Among the permanently damaged clothes were two of my nicer suits and both my (rather expensive) wedding-appropriate cocktail dresses.  With a wedding to attend a mere twelve days away, this was also not good news.  The clothes she is able to clean will run me close to $700.00.  So I'll have to pay that, and buy a new dress for the wedding.  This took me from angry to livid.

I also have to buy a new set of sheets to replace the ones that were sprayed with the various toxic chemicals, along with all the food in my pantry they so thoughtfully doused in poison.

Then I get told by my building that because it was a routine, scheduled sweep of the building they are not responsible for any of the damages to my personal belongings.  I've asked several of my neighbors.  None of them received any further notice to the sweep than the knocking on their doors on Friday mid-morning.  That took me from livid to irate.  The total cost in damages from vet bills to food totals over $2000.00.  That's three months of rent for me.  I've started the paperwork to file a lawsuit in small claims court.  Merry Christmas, assholes.
