King Me!

I finished reading Cell, and enjoyed it, despite being puzzled why Stephen King felt the need to write The Stand Lite. I was expecting something different at the end, ( which I will elaborate upon at length. )

I actually really enjoyed Cell. It felt more like one of his older works, back when he was good. Sure, there were problems with it, but overall I found it a positive experience.

Yeah? I don't know, it just felt to me like it was missing something. Maybe it was the small cast...or maybe the old-guy whining about cell phones turned me off. :)

To what extent were they really predatorial? The developed hive mind had quit killing normies except in retaliation. Some of them were regaining individuality. I would really have liked to see what they became in another year or so. They were still trying to add to the flock, but wouldn't you want to bring sheep into your fold?

Aww, Cujo was all right. I liked the so-close-so-far setup.

I was basically raised on King and I found The Cell to be pretty gripping. Certainly better than a lot of the stuff he's written in recent years.

The further back you go with him, the better he gets.

This sounds cliche, but I still find I enjoy his stuff proportional to how long ago he wrote it.

This is so true. I love Stephen King's style, but everything I have read of his that is at all recent, I have been left feeling very disappointed with. The early Dark Tower books are probably my favourites.

The funny thing is, I know it's not just me getting tired of him or whatever, because I recently read Salem's Lot for the first time and, yeah, I enjoyed it more than newer ones. He's still good, he's just not producing Its and Rages anymore for some reason.

Have yet to read the Dark Tower. Have been chastised for this many times.

Duma Key was really good. If you haven't, read it.
