So Heroine Addiction isn't hurting? How about wrongful imprisonment? Abduction? Mind wiping? And what about Lyle? Talk about your disposable characters... he barely even has a personality.
Why not tack on Nicki/Jessica going to jail/nuthouse... And her shrink? She probably most resembled Kyle Rayner's girlfriend when Jessica was done with her.. or are we not bringing up violence brought about by women? Oops... sorry.
Good comics mean your hero gonna suffer. Unfortunately, since most hero are not gay, that makes the ladies a very easy target. Which is sadly, exploited too often by too many lesser talented storytellers. Don't like it? Build up your writing skills and change things.
Also, this is a one sided argument (which is what annoys me) because no one brings up the empowerment thing. Like Hiro's sister. Or Hope, who basically slutted her way into making Ando do what she wanted. Or the Patrelli Matriarch. You know she's bad news...
I'd say overall, the show's a fairly balanced scenario, if you want to look it over.

(None of those cause permanent physical damage. The listed characters are dead, crippled, or brain-damaged. The victims of abduction/mind-wiping have...two little scars on their necks.) (To look at it another way, the people I listed in the first paragraph (men and women alike) were killed or disabled in order to give motive to the main characters. The things you list are done to the main characters themselves.) (Notice I didn't include Hana, who was abducted.)
And what about Lyle? Talk about your disposable characters... he barely even has a personality.
(What does the existence of a two-dimensional character have to do with the consistent use of three-dimensional characters as objects?)

(We can add the shrink, if you want. I'd put her in the poker-players' group because she was clearly an extra and her death emotionally influences no one.) (Notice that I included Eden, who killed herself, and Malsky, who was killed by a woman.)

(Are you saying that comic book heroes are disproportionately straight and male? I agree.)
Which is sadly, exploited too often by too many lesser talented storytellers. Don't like it? Build up your writing skills and change things.
(There are two ways to change things: internally and externally. Those within the industry have no excuse for carrying on harmful trends once they have been pointed out. And I need no more change comics by writing them than I need change government by running for Congress.)
Also, this is a one sided argument (which is what annoys me) because no one brings up the empowerment thing.
(You're welcome to create a proportional list of Men in Refrigerators. Misandry sucks too.) (Oh wait, you meant that the existence of very strong female characters excuses the existence of objectified ones? That's like saying that since Oprah is rich and powerful, racism no longer exists.)
Like Hiro's sister. Or Hope, who basically slutted her way into making Ando do what she wanted. Or the Patrelli Matriarch. You know she's bad news...
(When did I complain about the lack of strong female characters? I credit the show for their inclusion. I also believe that they are too often being offed for the benefit of other characters.)
I'd say overall, the show's a fairly balanced scenario, if you want to look it over.
(I'd say that looking it over proves that it's not.)
*and then I read the wikipedia link and realized that there wasn't a scene in Heros with a woman cut up...you were just being figurative, as the metaphor has been come to be known...*
*and then I realized that my initial point is still valid*
*Objection!*
