As far as I can tell the empathic brother's ability seems to be limited to being empathic with his brother... Though I may have missed something.
Hiro (COME ON! Clearly they could have come up with a less "DUH" name... though I suppose I don't have the right to say anything considering some of the name I come up with...) is awesome... Though I admit I totally missed his name during the show.
Come up with a story that hasn't been touched upon in the last 60 years of comic books? Sorry, but I don't think you're going to get that... Seriously, what HAVEN'T the last 60 years of comic books "touched upon"?
My personal opinion... Heroes was pretty good, but not spectacular... Mostly because I felt like I've seen it before. It's kind of a "The 4400 meets X-Men", in that the X-Men... errr... Heroes are appearing with a specific purpose (much like the 4400 did). Whether we'll keep watching, I don't know... But, I do know that my VCR is still set to record the next episode... :-)
2.) TV Guide had an article with the author and he claims that this is not going to become an X-Men or a Justice League. That the characters will run into each other and work together/against on different things, but that something will always present itself to tear them apart again.
Just thought I would share that article with ya. :-)
First, I loved Hiro. He made me so happy every time he came on screen. Tah bomb.
Secondly, since we're playing the "What Does Heros Remind You Of" game, I'm going to have to go with Aberrant. I've been saying it since the previews for the show came out. The big difference I can see right now is that they don't "erupt" when they get their powers - like Lucas said, they either just sort of get them, or they discover them somehow.
I really really want the politico to only be able to fly when his brother's there. I felt bad for the brother. I also really wish the girlfriend was Gina Torres, like I thought it was for a split second.
Aberrant... That is TOTALLY what I thought of when I watched the pilot.
I also love Hiro. He definitely seems like he's been reading too much manga or watching too much anime. Do they breed these type of people in Japan? I also laughed so hard during the scene where Hiro and his friend were doing their morning excercises. Wow, you gotta love the Japanese! ^_^
