Where I Have Been For the Past Five Days

Dec 11, 2003 12:38

No updates recently because I've been swamped at work trying to find out if a burner can fire on recycled oil that is made out of wood chips and smells like barbecue chicken. Result: It can, and I rock.

The Chinese lady from Canada finished her stay in the lab yesterday afternoon. That was sort of sad.

Book club on Tuesday: The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. It was horrible, unconvincing, saccharine, and entirely without conflict. Worse, most of the other ladies loved it. In protest I suggested we read Ulysses by James Joyce in January, but that was an even worse suggestion because, as I quickly found, the book makes no sense. So we changed it to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn which is one of the best books ever written.

The RFF calendar layout, based on the sample page that Cloudy sent me, is unbelievably cool. I am so psyched.

Right now I've got a ton of things crowding for my "creative idle thoughts" time, which drives me nuts. I can't get anything done if I'm distracted by something else. In slightly related news, I've given up Esperanto in favor of improving my Spanish; now I have to figure out how.
