Life seems full of those little accidents that happen at the wrong moments...
I was about to call the attorney at the Janesville law firm to tell him my first thoughts on the project I am doing before my interview, when a cat emergency came up. Simon got himself tangled up in the cord that pulls the blinds up, and he was meowing and struggling frantically. Without thinking, I ran to free him, realizing only later that the best option would have been to grab some scissors and cut the nylong cord. Because he was freaking out, he wrapped himself around my leg, hissing and biting me. He ended up fine and untangled, but I ended up with SEVEN puncture wounds.
I just got back from the doctor, who said I was extremely smart to come in so quickly. I was worried about my heart (bicuspid aortic valve is more susceptible to infection), but he said that it's a skin bacteria they worry about with cat bites. Left untreated, cat puncture wounds can swell tremendously and cause a nasty, painful rash. Luckily I just took my first horse pill, so I should be fine. Still, not fun! Stings quite a bit. I also got a tetanus shot for good measure, since it had been roughly 15 years since the last one.
So Simon killed Jasmine, my leopard gecko, several years ago, and now my calf muscle and ankle are the next victims! Ah, what a night. Back to work on my project. Good kitty.
