*big grin* i'm moved in!

i had sooo much stuff! but tom and ellen came along and helped, which was especially nice as dad couldn't lift anything. (i'd had to load the entire trailer myself the night before, too, so i didn't have as much energy in me.) but dad's still recovering from surgery and under orders not to lift more than twenty pounds. poor guy got so restless and bored while we were moving in. he had to just stand around. tom put in my air conditioner for me (i have an air conditioner!!), and ellen volunteered up dad's money and we all went shopping. she has a membership at sam's club, so we went there and then to meijer.

then i had to unpack. the apartment is furnished, but i brought a couple of things along, including a bed, which i got put together yesterday already so that i could sleep. and two of the pieces of furniture here i don't like. so i stuck them into my "storage" closet. i have two huge closets and i commandeered one as a mini storage unit of sorts. =) two pieces of the bed that was provided are in there as well, but the mattress wouldn't fit so that's in the other closet, the one in my room. i'm not used to having more than one room. my bedroom has always been my living room, tv room, computer room, and sometimes my kitchen as well. now. all that's separate! even at dad's house i had everything in my room but the kitchen and bathroom. to have a room used only for sleeping/getting dressed is...well kind of strange for me. lol.

so i finally got things pretty satisfactorily arranged. i moved the furniture around quite a bit till i had reached some level of contentment. it's still not perfect but it works. i need to vacuum the carpet i brought though. it's technically a rug now, as it doesn't fill the entire size of my floor. but it's also dirty from having been rolled up and left for nine months in the basement.

and, obviously, i have internet! i had to buy a cable modem, though. in the dorms i'd always just had to plug an ethernet cord into the internet plug in the wall (looks like a slightly oversized phone jack) and then plug the other end into my computer. but they have cable internet here, so i need a cable modem. which cost me a hundred bucks!! and then i spent $240 on books...and that's for three classes. i have to buy eight more books yet for my other two classes (they're temporarily sold out..). it's ridiculous how much books cost.

and, a nice little random coincidence. we had just finished moving me in yesterday and i was helping tom take his tools back out to his truck, along with a ratty little dresser somebody had ditched here, and guess who i run into...olivia! she lives in my building. i'm 383 and she's 373. this apartment complex is pretty big, and a sprawling one at that. and out of all the buildings, we're in the same one. haha. that's nice. ellen and tom were standing next to me and olivia spoke to me in german, as she always does, and this time i answered in german. and then i turned around and ellen looked a bit confused and then finally said, "oh, that's german." haha.

well. i'm going to go unpack my books and vcr/dvd player. i still have to line my cupboards and drawers with contact paper so i can put my stuff away. what i have, anyways. i still need to buy dishes! i guess i won't be doing too much eating till then. other than snacks and fruits, anyways. =)
