i just went for a walk for nearly four hours. along the rhine. in the sun. and it's 88F/31C. i'm dying, haha. i need to go buy some sunscreen. and aloe vera while i'm at it. i'm a tomato. i'll have to take cold showers for a week. hot showers with a sunburn feel like you're being scrubbed with red-hot steel wool. wooow but there was not enough shade outside.
it was so beautiful though!! it's really rather worth the sunburn. i found the most beautiful little park/pond place that was so quiet and serene. and the pond was really more of a winding river with fat little pockets plopped down around islets of land, all connected by these little bridges. at one point it kind of streamed out and turned into a full-on river/big pond of sorts. but it was so nice. and so green. and full of geese and ducks and swans and these other birds (i'm guessing they're geese) that look so interesting. they're also really rather timid, and flew off before i could get close enough to get a better look. the other geese and the ducks let me walk right up to them. even the swans came right up to the shore and let me come to the edge of the water.
anyways. my shoulders and back feel like they're on fire. i'm already regretting having gone out without sunscreen. i want to go to the drugstore to get some aloe vera, but i'm almost afraid to go back outside again, lol. maybe i'll put a tshirt on and just hope i don't burn/tan enough to get lines.
i stopped by the university on my way back to pee and ran into a small group of (american) friends of mine. so i chatted with them for a few. heard a couple of really funny stories. =)
but ok, i just came home to get some water and money. now i'm off to schlecker. and then i'm going to come home and watch tv. and write my referat. i've been procrastinating that for two weeks now, and it's due next week, and since tomorrow i have to read and write summaries/analyses of four short stories and this weekend i'll be in amsterdam, today and thursday are my only days to do it. how's that for last minute...
