The showers

As Amber felt the hot water pour over her she started to relax and feel slightly sleepy. She didn't want to go to sleep just yet, however the water was having a relaxing effect on her. To try and revive herself she scrubbed herself with shower gel. It was some of the gel she had brought from her former home and the smell of it reminded her of her life before the virus. She smiled a bittersweet smile. In the past couple of years it had been easier to think of life before the virus and remember the good times while appreciating what she had now. The trip home that she had taken though had evoked plenty of memories and had reminded her how drastically the virus had changed everything. If you forgot about the virus, then life these days seemed perfectly normal. It was only when directly confronted with the past that one's present life didn't seem quite right. Amber gave a slight shudder, and tried to think of the positive forces working in her life.

She had Bray and her son, the two most important people in her life. She had never thought in a million years that she would have such an amazing family of her own and was beyond grateful for that. She had the Mall Rats, and she had wonderful friends such as Trudy, Salene and Jay; people who meant the world to her. Not to mention the other Mall Rats that she would fight tooth and nail for. Amber felt more reassured, and washed her hair, massaging her scalp thoroughly. Even though she had had her hair in knots for so long, occasionally they would still pull at her scalp, and it felt so good to take them out and give her head the tender loving care that it needed due to her normal hairstyle.

Exiting the shower, Amber dried her body, then wrapped the towel round her hair while she dressed. She had brought with her a white top and some bluey black jeans, just something to slouch around in for the rest of the evening. She seperated her hair in the normal way as if she would place her hair in knots, but let it hang loose while she waited for it to dry. She folded her towel and gathered her dirty clothes, then took them to her room before going to find her family in the kids room. She hoped Bray hadn't had too much difficulty getting their son off to sleep.
