Big Sister is Watchin YOu!

Ok, not to freak anyone out or anything, but I've got 'tracking devices' (mwhahahaha!)
set into my entries, so I can see who is reading my journal.
I'm not going to mention the couple of people who are so interested in what I'm doing that they read my journal 2-3 times a day, even when I haven't updated in a couple of days....
Ok, I just did, but that ( Read more... )

yeah I noticed that at a second look LOL, she's a friend of mysirensong too, plus being in 3 groups.. So that's a lot in common!

I used to track my posts too with my own home-brewed tracker. One thing to keep in mind about such is to log the referrer or the URL of the page the hidden image was in.

Without it, you'd think I was reading your page multiple times when in reality, I was just refreshing my friends page. ;)

man, I already replied to you! stupid storms (lovely rain!) messing up my connection.
Anyways, my filters do that sorta thing for me, it'll mark whether someone is reading from my post, reading from their f-list or whether they are reading from a friends f-list (for instance a groups f-list)
Plus by clickin on their user info, it'll say whether I've got interests in common, groups in common, friends in common, that sorta thing.
Plus, when I've got my normal f-list people reading, it might have their name a few times in a row, but that's normal, the times are very close together. My more 'frequent' readers are reading the same entry morning, noon and night. That's just weird....

Another thing to keep in mind is that some firewall apps and at least one time AOL block the referrer so you won't be able to see what URL it came from.

yeah, but if I don't have the ip address (unusual) it'll at least tell me *where* they are coming from. So for instance, if it's telling me someone is reading me from Korea, I have a pretty fair idea of who. Or someone is reading from Oroville, CA, I can get paranoid it's a relative...
Your's says... static-72-86-25-154.sttlwa.fios.verizon.net
hehehe

It's a good program for computer half-tards like me...

...right now I am looking in the friends' list for , and this simply appeared as the next entry visible to all, so maybe those people also look in group friends' lists...otherwise I would never have heard of you! Just a thought...

yeah, see, but when I click on your user information, it'd bold that particular group we're both members of, so I'd know you strolled on in from there (plus my taggy thingy would mark you as 'friend of a friend' (plus I recognize your icon, I've always been curious about that one! story?)

...I also got a few people 'friending' me today with no common friends or grousp...*shrug*...got to be the full moon...

...the gentleman in the icon is His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, who is the cutest guy in the world: he spent over 22 years in a chinese prison camp, and they say that when he came out, he was enlightened...he's believed to be an emanation of the Buddha of Infinite Light, who's a handy guy to know, since he can help you get enlightened upon death if not sooner...the other person is me...

Hey, I always read you :) Though usually from my Friends Page. But I noticed a lot of unusual drive-bys since Friday. Just figured people taking some time off from work and life and playing online more than usual. Some were really odd connections most people wouldn't make.
