I'd love you to stay in this AK in the FBI AU. The touches of humor are great! The conversation between M and K was perfect ("So, how long have you had the hots for Skinner?"). Like your secondary characters like Mrs. Rosenberg and Ruby, too.
I see a conflict arising from Skinner. You've pretty much set up Alex's feelings (about Walter, about being gay in the FBI, about his lifestyle) very clearly. Walter's still the mystery. I figure you need to throw in some stumbling blocks, i.e Walter (as Mulder postulates) as unsure about his sexuality. Certainly I figure he'd be conflicted in terms of being attracted to a subordinate, being the professional that he is. Then, the wife might be another stumbling block. Maybe Sharon still wants him, wants to make a go of it. Blah, blah, blah.
I like the idea of a relationship story rather than a "Conspiracy/Syndicate" plot where Alex gets dragged into the same ol' morass by CSM, etc. Boy, I'm mighty tired of that.
Just keep going like you have been and you've got a real winner!
